What's the going rate for maid service these days, esp in the Bethesda area? I'm interested in having someone clean seemly, and it would be a 5 bedroom, 4.5 bath home, about 4000sf,including basement. How much would you expect that to cost? Would you pay by the hour or for the job? How many hours should it take for a job well done? |
Clean weekly I mean. Stupid autocorrect. |
We have 3500 sq ft in FFx County and they only do the bedrooms, baths, kitchen, dining room, family room, living room = $100/ every two weeks. If they were to do the basement it would be more so we opted to not do the basement as the kids are responsible for it. |
I pay 125 every 2 weeks for 3br 1.5 bath + playroom and basement in AU park. I went through 3 maids to find my girl. She is expensive but extremely thorough. Furniture and rugs are moved, baseboards and ceiling fans cleaned, laundry, etc. I don't see the use in paying less if you get a sub par job. |
Pp here, she spends about 6 hours. 4 if she brings a friend. |
In ARlington but my cleaning lady comes here from Silver Spring. About 2,600sf, 2 1/2 baths, hardwood floors on 1st level; carpet on 2nd. She changes the sheets on our bed, scrubs the kitchen countertops and inside the microwave. $120 every two weeks. We have used her for 7 years and I have given her $5 cost of living raises a couple of times. |
In Arlington, a 3 bed 3.5 bath, 2300 square foot plus a very small basement room. We pay $130 every two weeks. |
175 every 2 weeks in ARL, although cleaning lady lives in SS. House in 4500 sq ft including a rec room and she and her partner clean it meticulously. |
Are these prices for maids through a service or individuals who work for themselves? If not a service, do you have to pay taxes for them? |
We pay our cleaning lady $130 every two weeks for 5 bedroom home in Potomac (including basement). She's been with us for 9 years and usually brings a helper. They are usually at our house for 4-5 hours on cleaning day. She's not our employee, she provides a bi-weekly service, so no we don't withhold taxes. |
We are in Bethesda and pay $185 weekly for 5-6 hours. 4 BR, 3.5 ba house, with dog and 2 teens (so all the rooms/bathrooms get pretty well used). She launders the sheets and towels in addition to cleaning. We pay the unemployment and FICA taxes on top of that. |
Whose employee is she? Unless she works for a service she may in fact be your employee. Or if she is submitting you a bill each time from her own business. Ours counts as an employee even though we are one of 8-10 families she works for every week. |
5,000 sq feet in Arlington. $130 every two weeks.
If you want every week, you can probably find something for $100/week. |
$120 per week, 3000 sq ft house in Vienna. |
Wrong to the employee part. Unlike a nanny cleaners would not be W-2 employees. I guess you could file a 1099 but meh. |
