Wow “Virgin River” is so bad! Like 1980’s Lifetime bad

Charmaine doesn’t get pregnant in the books. There’s no weird IVF story either.

The books are more hunky dory. There are some dramatic events but at the end of the day everyone ends up married, happy, and having children (and somehow they all have money). The show really ramped up the drama--it kind of had to in order to keep it going.

Is there a new season? I agree the show is bad but it’s oddly comforting, too.

The new season premieres tomorrow, right?! Can’t wait! I’m sure it will be ridiculous.

I'm late to the post, but laughed out loud when I saw this post title. Because YES!
And to me it's odd how many of my "mom friends" say that they enjoy this show. To me, it's not even as good or compelling as an 80s lifetime movie or even a nighttime or daytime soap opera of the 80s/90s. It's just...bad.

Comfort watching on a sick day. Maybe I'm too infirm to notice all the problems, but so far the new season seems much better than the previous ones. The wildfire episodes were done really well, I think.

Hasn’t Charmaine been pregnant for at least 3 seasons?

The scenery location is absolutely stunning.

Why are they so hard on woman/mothers in general, older moms, and older women?
All the plot lines have a controlling narcissist-type mom who doesn't understand her daughter(s), the manipulative mom (Charmaine), the stupid moms who don't take advice, the evil lady running the fentanyl game, and as soon as they hit 55, they are childish, mean, and crazy.

And poor Mel who just can't be a mom.

I love this Show. I don’t think it’s great or anything, but it’s very watchable.

I enjoy it. It is a nice escape.

+1. I was looking forward to the show but couldn't even make it through the 1st season.

I'm afraid to go on!!! first it's Charmine..I hate her but I hate Annette MORE UGH she's annoying and should quit the series..I think Charmine has calmed down a bit as I'm on series 5 but why is Annette still here? Needs to go or die

It's pretty bad for even mindless television but I'm so invested I watch anyway. SO melodramatic every second. Not one person can catch a break.

The setting and scenery are spectacular but look noting like coastal Northern California. Why not just have it set in British Columbia, where it's filmed? So many of the secondary characters are Canadian actors and their accents are distracting if you value authenticity even a tiny bit.

I watched the first episode and didn't get the hype. It's so boring.

I've found Hope less grating after her TBI.

I’m still hate watching it. But wtf with the timeline . Didn’t Charmaine get pregnant in season 1?? She is still pregnant. So these five seasons are actually only about 8 months of time Virgin River.
