What's a food that people generally love but you think is overrated?

I mean I don’t see either as breakfast fare more like a treat you eat once in a while.

+1 and per the title, everyone seems to love them, still, even in this day and age.

I think donuts are overrated, as I haven't had a good one in years. They never live up to the memories of the perfect donut from our local place in the 80s. Glazed. So I don't ever bother, even as a treat.

Bagels, I think are getting better. A perfectly asiago cheese bagel with vegetable cream cheese is the perfect treat. I only eat the top.

What is a "perfectly asiago cheese bagel?"

I guess perfectly toasted? But I have two brain cells to rub together to figure things out like this.

I don’t think you can assume that “toasted” is the omitted word. You know what they say about people who assume…

original poster here. Yes, it was "toasted". Yes it was a good assumption. What other candidates did you think it could possibly be? Perfectly ripe? Perfectly circular?
And I stand by my donut comment. None have been worth it! If anyone knows a gem of a place, post it!

astro donut? their creme brulee and pb&j donut are amazing! but they are not the delicious simple donuts of our youth- the butter and crumb on teh donuts we'd get from giant was something else. Food quality has gone down so much!

Will check it out! Another donut and fried chicken place, huh.
Does anyone know if they use the same fryers for both? Do you just smell like chicken going in there? Inquiring minds want to know!

LOL! I knew someone was going to ask that! There is a lot I do eat, and I'm actually not a picky eater. I love Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Italian, most Japanese foods, some Korean foods, etc. I won't eat lamb, but I will eat goat, chicken, pretty much any fish (although salmon is my least favorite), shrimp, octopus/squid, scallops... hell, I even love okra! See, there is so much other stuff out there!

Peasant food. So gross.

Mac & cheese. Usually tastes bland.

Greek yogurt. Who wants this pasty stuff.

Steak. Just a lump of meat with not much interest.

Mexican food. It’s pretty much the same dish over and over again

Oh dear. Nutella and cool whip are a different category from good sticky buns. The problem with sticky buns is when they are too sweet and mushy.

I don’t think the dumbass who writes an incomplete sentence is in a very good position to snark.

pies

w/r/t fruit pies, they are usually mushy

and w/r/t other pies, a cake version is always so much better (eg, chocolate mousse pie- I’d always rather have choco mousse cake)
