Hey ladies, lets have some fun! Sarah Palin breastfeeds, and more often than not she has to pump. What kind of mom does not nurse her child at the breast? How is her baby supposed to bond. She just makes me sick. What kid of mother is she? Is that really the kind of wretched wench we want in the white house?

I think you are the scariest person I have ever encountered and I've been mugged twice.

Okay, you want to know what I really think of Palin as a mother?

1. I don't believe she is actually breastfeeding her infant. I think that is a lie. If she went back to work 3 days after giving birth and worked full days since then, no amount of pumping can replace nursing in terms of maintaining milk supply for a newborn under those circumstances. Not judging her for not nursing, but judging her for lying.

2. I think dragging this infant around to show his Down syndrome features as testament to her not choosing to terminate her pregnancy is DISGUSTING.

3. The fact that her older daughter became pregnant herself when her mother was 8 months pregnant screams to me of a teenage girl who needed attention and wasn't getting it from her parents. It is heartbreaking. It's also heartbreaking to think that now the poor girl and her boyfriend are being dragged into all of this and offered up as bait to put to rest the rumors that her infant is not Sarah Palin's child but rather her daughter's.

4. I think choosing to have a 5th child when your other children are apparently not doing that well to begin with (oldest girl especially) and when you are working full time in a high profile job is selfish. And don't get me started on choosing to take only 3 days of maternity leave. Incomprehensible, if you have a choice otherwise.

But, and here's the important part, none of this is politically relevant because she has the right - and should have the right - to make her own horrible choices.

I could care less what kind of mom Palin is or isn't-she's made her choices for better or for worse and she has to live with them. Her beliefs, on the other hand, are quite scary. Her and I have polar opposite views and ideas and I could never vote for someone who doesn't believe in global warming, doesn't believe women have the right to choose, who doesn't think birth control should be taught. I think her speech was over kill as far as bashing Obama-it could have been toned down.

She made her choices as a woman-and her family has to live with them. I'm thankful she wasn't my mother.

And I'm thankful that PP isn't my child's English teacher....

I don't think you're fun, and you're not very bright. Some newborns with Down's Syndrome are not able to nurse at the breast. As a result, the mother has to pump. I had a premature baby who could not nurse at the breast for almost three months, so I had to pump every 4 hours, day and night, and then tube or bottle feed him. That takes more dedication than you can possibly imagine, and my bond with my preemie is the same as with my breastfed, full term child.

Not the OP, but I think the OP was being sarcastic.

Thought I have to respond to your post. I give you tons of credit for having to pump so much. I can imagine how tough it must have been. So, that's one of the reasons I have a problem with Palin. It takes tons of dedication and time to pump. How can she be doing that and running for VP? Would you have had the energy to run for VP while you were pumping? I know I sure wouldn't. I only pump occasionally, and it's overwhelming even to do that.

OP here.

I just thought that we had completely bashed Palin and her mothering and character to a pulp (we do a really good job of this here on DCUMs we should be so proud!). I was just sitting around and thinking that there MUST be some other fault we can find in this woman and when I learned she was breast feeding, I said to myself "UREKA!" we have not yet bastardized this choice of hers I must bring this carcass to the waiting wolves on DCUM, what fun. We have really covered everything Sarah Palin and this little tid bit has been left out.

18:33 brought up something I had NEVER considered she probably NEVER even nursed her child; now THAT is good analysis if I've ever seen it, take notes ladies. Thank you for the talking point, I'm going to use it in my next debate with my one redneck republican friend. I mean she is such a horrible mom, I should have thought of this myself, she definitely does not nurse-NO WAY. I'll take it even farther, I would suppose that she does not even use formula, but uses a recipe of evaporated milk and Karo syrup, just like the old days. I'm sure that's what moms in Alaska do...bless her heart, she does not know any better, because you know those Alaskans are so backwards.

Palin carries Trig in a sling to meetings and nurses him during meetings. From all accounts, even the most negative ones, she is dedicated to breastfeeding the baby. Of course, some DCUM posters will find fault with that too.

Ugh. I'm not really concerned that Palin carried Trig to term. I don't care that she's not a full-time mom or a terrible mom. But man, breastfeeding during meetings? I find that so unprofessional. I bf'd my child, but would never do it during a meeting.

You may feel differently if you are a Governer. I can't imagine being able to take that much time off, and newborns need to nurse. No one can see in the sling, and no one would really know if she were nursing or not.

I think you are judgemental and have no basis to say what you are saying. Everyone's circumstances are different.

For me, Sarah Palin is an incredible role model, inspiration and example to me.

My husband and I both strive together to be great parents and great at our careers. Our kids do well at school, are loving and loved by their peers and teachers. So far, so good.

On breastfeeding: I pumped for 6 months for my first child and breastfed (no pumping) my second for 15 months. Again, every circumstance is different.

We do not have enough role models who take on the challenges to which we aspire, so it is wonderful to see the Palin family!

You sounds like a mentally unstable, crazy, paranoid person, so it's better you stay home anyways.
