McCain stood up to the No. Vietnamese but can he stand up to the right wing of the Republican Party?

Anonymous
I imagine I will be flamed for saying this but I am really tired of hearing every major speaker (at least those I've heard) at the RNC going on about how John McCain was tortured by the North Vietnamese. I admire what he did. He stood up to his vicious captors and refused to take the easy way out.

But
1) it's not the skill set one needs to be an effective president and
2) he hasn't shown the same backbone when it comes to the right wing of the Republican Party.

If he were really that consistent in standing strong for what he believes in, he would have picked Lieberman for his v.p. rather than being pressured into choosing Palin. If he'd picked Lieberman, the race would be all over but he wimped out and went for Palin.

Maybe he was being a pragmatist -- but that has little to do with resisting his torturers during the war. It hardly makes him qualified to be president.
