How many pizza needed?

Yes, this.

The standard 2 slices per person always feels risky (too low) to me, but with some smaller kids and parents who likely won't eat and the 3pm start time, it feels perfect. That's 5.75 pizzas so round up to 6.

Op here. The venue offers to help us to get 1 large topping pizza from domino at $14 each if we use their service. They don't have kitchen on site. I am still debating if we should use their services to save the hassle or we just call for pizza delivery and pay for delivery fee/tips at the venue. We have Papa John's, dominos, paisano(kid do not like), Pizza Hut and Potomac pizza nearby the place. We don't need fancy pizzas, only need cheese pizza and pepperoni pizza. Would you use their domino pizza service or we order on our own? We rarely order from domino pizza, how does it taste? Is $14 a pizza reasonable or we can just order on our own ?

That's not a rule. And what adult is eating 3 slices of pizza in-between meals?

I think op needs to be honest about the parents size. If they are big order a lot, if they are in shape, plan on them eating no pizza. Nobody will eat 3 slices. Have the pizza double cut to cut down on waste.

Op here. The evite is only for kid to count total number attending. I "assume" parents will just do the drop off, so I assume 6-7 adults includes me & DH. The numbers of adults staying could be either more less or a lot more.

I'm sure you can take a look at them and size them up and order accordingly. But also why are so many parents staying at a drop off party for 9-11 yr olds?

Probably 8 pizzas plus some chips. Adults may just do drop of at that age.

DCUM always way overestimates how much pizza is needed for parties. You have 16 kids aged 9-11 at a venue type place in the middle of the afternoon. I would be surprised if any parents stay- maybe if the venue is a long drive, but even then they will probably sit in their cars etc- not be hanging around the party eating pizza. The kids will be excited- put 1 slice of pizza on each plate. Maybe a few kids will go get a second one- but I basically doubt it. So if you get 4 pizzas you really have more than double what you are likely to eat. If you get 8- like some people are suggesting- you are likely to be taking 4-5 pizzas home.

your poor children

My kids and their friends would likely eat 3 slices, so I’d get 8 pizzas

This is the meal.

I don't eat any meals between 3 and 5pm.

Thats a you issue. Ever try being flexible?
We would eat the pizza as dinner and have snack before bed.

I'd rather buy too much, than not enough.
Tween boys will easily eat 3 slices each. There will be at least one kid who will eat 4+(and no, it won't necessarily be the "fat" kid as a pp said. More likely it will be the smallest kid there.)

What fruits and chips tween boys love to eat these days?

Zero at a kids birthday party from 3-5. Maybe adults will eat a 1/2 a pizza. No one will take more than 1 slice.

I’d probably just get regular potato chips + grapes and maybe strawberries.

How physically active will the kids have been since 3:00, how many are boys, and how much time will they have to eat? I feel like there’s a big difference between girls going to a paint your own pottery party and boys going to a trampoline park, in terms of pizza consumption per guest. I’d do 5 pizzas in the first instance and 7 pizzas in the second.

I love how the number of pizzas keeps increasing. Unless OP and husband are splitting a whole pizza they don't need 8 large pizzas. It's like the pizza collective drives these answers.

That’s not how it works. I’m totally obese and at the last kids birthday party I attended I ate one slice of pizza and some grapes.
