Can’t afford to be essential

This don’t blame the shutdown for your terrible money management.

Ironic to be saying this on a message board where several of the channels have people talking about how tough they have it on $450k HHI when you're talking to GS-grade feds, many of whom make a lot less than private sector.

What a crappy thing to say. You sound miserable.

I’m so sorry. I love Feds and appreciate your work. You deserve better.

Fed here, and this is not true. Come this Saturday, I will have missed two full and one quarter of paychecks.

That still doesn’t equal two missed mortgage payments.

Why not? If you need 1 full paycheck to cover mortgage, then October payment wouldn't have gone through as a full payment. Same with November (so far). Or you split two paychecks to cover mortgage, and pay bills/life expenses with the rest. DC area isn't a cheap place to live.

Stop working for the government. Seriously, the government is a parasite, and employees like you are what they use to suck the life out of this great country.

Toss off, Vladimir.

Government is great when it’s run by professional, ethical public servants, not criminals like Trump.

I’m a private-pay service provider (think child therapist), and many of my clients’ parents are Feds. Of course I started working on credit when they stopped getting paid - kids still need my services, regardless of what happens with politics. But now we have the Fed household’s budget blown, and my household budget blown. I’ve stopped all discretionary spending and we are eating a lot of noodles and pantry staples. The pain rolls down - Feds are suffering most, but it is impacting the larger community, too.

This. I wonder how many kids are going without music lessons, people not getting haircuts, etc., etc.

It's ridiculous to expect people to work without pay.

Congress should be the first to go without.

They should have all the same rules as the other feds. And Tricare. And no stock trading.

Trump: we have no inflation

Inflation has risen every month he’s been in office

Trump: Prices are going down

Prices are going up for everything

Trump: The economy is booming

For oligarchs only. Small businesses are hurting. Layoffs piling up

Trump can’t lie his way out of his mess this time.

Why don't you have any savings?

You are living beyond your means, including your car, your mortgage, and probably your discretionary spending.
