There are a lot more options now. Plus we often pack lunch. Funny that when I was a kid we always had to pack a lunch on road trips because my parents refused to pay for McDonalds or other fast food options because it was expensive. I thought it was high living when I could afford to go to McDonalds. Now I'm rich and pack a lunch because I don't want fast food.

We don't go on long car rides. We fly, and bring a bunch of snacks onto the plane. Dh and I are both foodies, so we're more likely to make a milkshake or fries at home. I don't understand your point about "how people ... move ..." Why would moving houses necessitate going to McDonalds?

There used to be one about a block and a half from my apartment, and even with that, I basically went to get fries like once a year. It matters to me what I put into my body. I can make sweet potato fries at home that have way less additives.

1976. My parents were getting a divorce and my father took me and my little sister for a kids happy meal. Then he moved out the next day. I’ve never been inside a McDonald’s since then. Wow, never really thought about this before.

I love going to mcdonalds in europe. Nothing quite so delightful as sitting there nursing a beer watching the world go by in a restaurant that used to be an old palace. If only they would bring the Big Breakfast with hot cakes platter to EU mcdonalds, it would be perfect.

DP but there are certain situations where your family needs to eat immediately, you don't have access to a kitchen, and there's very little open or nearby. Like if you spent the day moving and it's 7:30 and you can't cook because there's no food in the house and you need to eat now, not in 40 minutes when a pizza shows up. The thing about McDonald's is that it's incredibly fast-- you can be eating within a few minutes of placing your order.
