It makes sense to the dogs that are rescued.

+1

They're Pits. People have been shamed enough to rescue but they don't want fighting breeds so this is where we are.

If they are mixed than they weren't bred for fighting. It was all happenstance

Genes are genes.

Why should I care if Koreans eat dog meat? This is a genuine question.

Meat is meat. Not sure the difference between a dog and cow.

And if you all want to clear our shelters here in America- ban the breeding of pit bulls or mandate sterilization of them all. If we did that, in 10 years we wouldn't have the problem that we do.

It’s probably not which is why they are being shady on how they get the dogs in the country.

My rescue brought in over a dozen dogs from Korea before they had to stop due to increased costs. They were all adopted and lived out the rest of their lives happily.

I don't understand why the western world cares if Koreans eat dog. We kill horses (pets) for glue. Many people eat rabbits (pets). Meanwhile, 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized a year to make way for space in animal shelters. We'd be doing earth a service by eating those animals. It's really twisted how Americans think about meat.

We don’t kill horses. We banned that. So now we ship them in crowded trucks to Mexico or Canada instead.
The issue isn’t them eating dogs. It’s the treatment of the dogs beforehand. They stuck in tiny wire cages, they can’t move. Then they are tortured before being inhumane killed. Dogs are domesticated and tryst humans then we go and treat them like that, it’s dispicable.
The ongoing breeding of animals mainly dogs contributes to all the dogs in this county being euthanized.

We have enough dogs in this country that need homes. Why are we flying more from another country? I do not understand. Now if somebody wants to go to Seoul and adopt their pet there, Fine, but we should not be bringing more dogs here just to bring more dogs here. SMH

South Korea has banned dog meat and are closing the farms over the next few years. Most Koreans have never eaten it.

So now rescues are shipping dogs from South Korea build their inventory. And you're trying to tell me that rescuers are a nonprofit centers? All they see are the $s they get from selling more dogs. We do not need more dogs shipped into our country just so a rescuer has a bigger Inventory of dogs to sell. We have enough dogs in this country. We don't need to go to other countries.

I agree with this. At least being eaten is a purposeful death.

How are these dogs being allowed to fly over? When I moved overseas for work and wanted to bring my (completely healthy, up to date shots) dog, it was almost impossible. But we're letting random dogs just fly over?

Dog meat is extremely unhealthy for people. Wanna get rabies? https://www.onegreenplanet.org/animalsandnature/major-human-health-concerns-associated-with-the-dog-meat-trade/

Dogs have been considered our companions for thousands of years. Dogs are literally tortured to death and you call it a "purposeful death?'

Here is a video of dogs being blow torched alive in China
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/yulin-dog-meat-festival-video-china-blow-torch-animal-cruelty-a8969361.html

If you don't have any interest in this topic and don't want to help fine. But, dogs have been coming from around the world for ages and no one ever critizes that! My neighbors got dogs from Bosnia!

Anyone who is indifferent to this practice of eating dogs or cats are inhumane.

How about you MYOB? If you are not helping the dogs here nor helping them in South Korea how does this affect you personally? We do not need your 'permission' to care about these dogs and want to rescue them.
