My pit mix is awesome

That’s what makes them so troubling, for me. There are so many pit stories where the owner said that they weret and loving until something unpredictably trigger them and then they attacked in a way that surpassss the way most dogs bit defensively. A mean rottie or a crazy GSD is usually obvious — no one thinks the dog is sweet. But some pits )not all and certainly the minority) seem to have an unpredictable trigger buried deep in their psyche — that’s why I’d never get one. I hope yours continues to be loving and sweet all the days of their life!

This thread is not for you. Please let us have one thread that is positive about pit bulls. You csn take your "troubling" elsewhere.

I agree. I also worked in animal rescue and the pits were kind of a mind f*ck. They could be the most cuddly, sweeet well behaved dogs- that only wanted to love and be loved and 3 days later go at your throat with tenacity like you have never seen. It's kind of wild, you think you know a dog and they suddenly are basically possessed. I quit rescue work because of the pit issue and won't go back until the shelters get real about these dogs.

Please go to the haters thread if a German Shepherd attacks do you say all German zshepherds are mind f#ck. If these are mixed and have been abused why do you blame the pit in them? And why don't you blame the humans who treated them horribly

There are plenty of threads on dcum that support you. I'm sure they would happily agree!

Now please go away.

But wouldn't you love a lab just as much?

I think we need mandatory sterilization of pits

NP- I've known pits who were treated wonderfully their entire lives and they still go berserk. A relative's sweet pit attacked my small dog very viciously (a massive bite to the belly that went the whole way around her basically.)

There are two little dogs in my dog class. Their person calls them pit bulls, but they aren't the huge, bow-legged, muscular kind of pit bulls. They are by far the best dogs in the class. They know all the things, and are charming and smart. They're learning how to identify bed bug smells in motel rooms.

Way to miss my point. If you want to bash pit bulls please go to the other million threads that are out there. This is for spreading love. You are not welcome with the antidote of that one "pit bull" attacking and innocent dog. Because you have no idea what kind of dog it really was. There are five different breeds and only one true pit bull American pit bull terrier. If they are mixed with other breeds how do you know it is the 'pit' in them that is responsible?

On this thread which is positive no one wants to hear from any negative Neds or Nancys!

I love my pit bull and he lives with five cats! He is a love bug!

Mine is snoring on the couch right now while I'm working, and I love that she is so happy and relaxed. She deserves every second of this good life.

Pit bulls is just an umbrella term. The dogs are probably American pit bull terriers or Staffordshire terriers. I don't consider the XL bullies pit bulls because they have Cane Corsos and other breeds in them

Any time I see what I think is a pitbull, I do what I can to not encounter the animal. I will pick my kid up and walk on the other side of the street if I need to. I do not care how sweet or how many tricks your dog can do. These creatures still have minds of their own. You, as a owner, do not control their minds. I also do this of any dog too. If your dog comes up and tries to sniff me, I will kick it. I am not waiting to get attacked.

You are unhinged. You do not attack an animal that is just showing curiousity. If you are attacked after you attack an innocent animal than you deserve it.

Btw, I never let my dog near people because of people like you.

Again take your unhinged hatred towards pit somewhere else.

What you 'think' is a pit is mind blowing. You have no idea. Plenty of dogs with pit don't have the blocky head.

My 24% pit mix is quite adorable. She is also 19% chihuaha (plus a bunch of other random breeds) - so she is small - only 25 lbs. She has a little burly chest (pit bull) but a teeny chihuaha head (and jaws). I love her so much!
