What do I do between now and then To manage the pain. I’m very bloated, now constipated, and the main on the right side flares badly after dinner. I’m eating bc I’m hungry but then regretting it later.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I’m so incredibly miserable and in pain.

Your primary care doc can order the ultrasound or HIDA scan. You don’t need a GI to order those.

Oh…just read more. Glad you’re getting the scans. If the scans show anything, they can send you straight to the surgeon. No need for a GI unless it gets complicated.

Can gallbladder stone pain start off mild cramping? I don’t have a fever or nausea I, but I have pain in upper right ab and feel bloated.

Yes.

Thank you. It’s basically just constant, but sometimes picks up intensity. Hard to tell based on time of day or food. I am a coffee drinker but have been avoiding alchol right now. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Thurs. I’m also a white female in my early 40s and have had kids in the past five years if that matters.

It’s possible it’s an ulcer? There are so many issues in that region

Great you’re getting the scan tomorrow, good luck! The basic rec is to eat lightly, and low fat.

This is OP. I’m all for being healthy but if this is gall bladder I’m thinking just take it out as opposed to a life of zero fatty foods.

I’ve had problems for years. Sadly, the HIDA scan was “on the border” and my insurance will not cover the removal. I’ve learned to control it with diet. Fried foods are what kills me, so I rarely eat any. I still have a few hours of painful twinges after eating something with much fat, but it’s manageable.

This is OP. The ultrasound tech told me things looked great and nothing suspicious in the scans but the radiologist will review and send results to primary care. I guess that made me feel a little better but the waiting is awful.

I have the combination platter of Alpha gal and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease / and a few small gallstones. All cause gallbladder pain at times. Please look at getting checked for Alpha gal. My pain level improved greatly once I understood I needed to avoid mammal meat, specifically beef. It’s also important to not drink alcohol, use products like Tylenol, and get good exercise.

Not saying that’s what’s going on with you, but it can help while you’re trying to figure out what’s going on.

I had gallbladder attacks intermittently between 2009-2014. scan confirmed their existence.

I stopped eating anything that was very high fat.

Have not had an attack since.
