Good mexican food out rt 70?

Anonymous
We are from California, live in DC and can never get good Mexican food In the city. We've heard that there are some good places if you go further west, and on Saturday we are headed up to Deep Creek Lake. We'd love to stop for lunch at an authentic taqueria or the like. No Tex Mex, please!

TIA

HA! GL with that. I'm also from CA, and as sad as it is, I've decided that Taco Bell is as good as it's going to get here. It's that bad.

I think by further west they meant Northern VA. Not that its that great. The trip up to Deep Creek Lake doesn't have much around it. I would look for a cute place to eat in Frederick or Hagerstown, but I wouldn't look for anything "ethnic".

Forget it.

Yep, resign yourself to Salvadoran cuisine. It's the best substitute you can hope for in DC.

try tortacos in gaithersburg. it's off 270 behind lake forest mall. it's really good, and their horchata was a hit with the kids.

there's a mexican restaurant near deep creek in oakland, md called el canelo. it's not as authentic as tortacos, but it's ok. enjoy the lake!
