After School Care in West Springfield?

We just move to West Springfield and enrolled DS in Kindergarten for the fall. Obviously we are not getting in SACC. Any good private options for after school care?

Have you been wait listed for SACC? Not all schools fill up.

Which school will your DS be attending? My DS will be attending kindergarten at Orange Hunt. We haven't cleared the wait list so I have been looking at other options. The only places I have found are martial arts places and daycare centers.

Top Kick Tae Kwan Do, area preschools, or private home daycares are all options.

I'm very interested in responses, as well. Our son isn't entering kindergarten until 2013, but he just got waitlisted for SACC at Kings Park Elementary.

I started calling the moment registration opened this morning at 8 a.m. and hit redial continuously for almost 20 minutes. We are #19 on the afternoon waitlist. Yeesh!

Being 19 on the waitlist is OUTSTANDING. Try being #122! I've been there. I've also been #4. It can take 12-18 mos. to move up (on either account --#122 or #4 -- just depends). Being #19 is VERY good at this point.

Thanks for the encouraging news, 10:09! This is our first experience with SACC, so I had nothing to benchmark our #19-spot against.

Congratulations! You are pretty much in as there will be lots of movement by the time August 2013 rolls around.

OP here. My DS will be attending Orange Hunt as well! Have you found anything you are comfortable with yet?

I am the PP whose DS will be attending Orange Hunt. We are looking at the program at Elite MA. DS is doing a 6 week trial of their Tae Kwon Do class to see if it is a good fit (he hasn't done TKD before). He seems to really enjoy the class and the instructors are good. I just wonder if it will be too much to do almost an hour of TKD every day after a full day of school. I have found a couple of daycare centers with after care, but have not been impressed with their inspection reports. I was hopeful when I saw Kiddie Country does after care for Orange Hunt, but not for kindergarten since they have a kindergarten program.

BYW, would you be interested in getting our sons together before kindergarten starts? He knows a couple of older kids, but no one who will be in kindergarten.
