Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with painful intercourse during pregnancy. I'm at 19 weeks, and I was under the impression that most women become much more interested in sex during the second trimester. However, I'm not at all interested, and when we do try, it's painful. I do relax my muscles and my husband tries foreplay to get me excited, but it doesn't seem to work.
I brought this up with my OB, and she said I probably had a yeast infection, did a quick swab, and prescribed an antifungal cream before finding out the results (I think). I used the cream for 7 days but no change. I've noticed that my labia are swollen and engorged, which the books mention as being normal during pregnancy. Perhaps this is making the vaginal opening tighter than usual? My husband's penis is larger than average. I thought the engorgement was supposed to lead to better orgasms, but it hasn't been that way for me. I also notice some discharge that smells like ammonia, but perhaps this is urine leaking out? You would think I'd feel that happening, I haven't. Thanks in advance. |
I think its totally normal to not feel comfortable during sex during pregnancy--you ARE more engorged and sometimes that just feels weird or painful, not sexy. Ammonia might be pee, and you wouldnt necessarily feel it, though it seems a little early to be leaking. Although you are probably fine, I would recommend pressing the issue with your Dr. just to be sure and make yourself feel better. |
