M&D Red somehow lost to FCA 9-8 but kept it close with Coppermine 9-6. They definitely have some players that would contribute on some of the top teams.

A lot of teams like that

Actually, something's going right with M&D Red. They are playing the top teams very tough. Lost to Sky Walkers by 2, Coppermine by 3, and they beat CCL by the same margin that Pride did and close to Crush. Some impressive results.

That said, to the other poster's point, Stars handled them easily both times in the fall. Hard to say what this team is up to.

Usclublax.com does a similar analysis each week except that they look at all results and not just a desirable few. Last Friday they determined M&D Red was the 33rd best team in the county, which is great and sounds about right. Next Friday they will do something similar, but unfortunately for M&D Red losing by 2 goals to a team your were supposed to lose to by 3 will not move the ranking needle much.

Looks like Pride may take 2nd in NGLL. Loser of Coppermine-Heroes will be third. Crush has 4th sewn up. If Stars beats Integrity they should have 5th. And M&D Black, FCA and Skywalkers have 6-8. Looks like some great playoff match ups in Round 1.

That looks about right. Some very good teams not making the playoffs. Heroes Green and Coppermine still the teams to beat. M&D Black vs Heroes Green or Coppermine would be an epic first round match up

If Hero’s loses to Coppermine they would be the third seed even though they’d have the same record and win the head to head? I thought head to head was the first tie breaker?

Tie Breaking Procedures for 2024 NGLL Playoffs :
o **Tie breaks in the standings will be decided in order. If #1 does not decide the tie
break, then we move on to #2, etc. until the tie break is decided.
1. Teams will be seeded by their record according to the following formula (percentage):
[(#Wins + 0.5*#Ties)/(#Wins + #Losses + #Ties)]
2. Head to Head Competition (if there is a three way tie in head to head competition, that
tiebreaker is thrown out).
3. Goals allowed vs. in-division opponents
4. Goals differential vs. in-division opponents (maximum score difference of 10 per game)
5. Goals against vs. all opponents
6. Goals differential vs. all opponents (maximum score difference of 10 per game)
7. 23-minute tie break game on the first day of the playoffs.

Sorry, I am PP and did not write clearly. I meant to ask if Hero’s with same record as Pride and with advantage in head to head would still be seeded beneath Pride if they lose to Coppermine?

Pride has the 2 seed no matter what. Loser of Coppermine and Heros has either the 3 or 4 seed based on the 3 way ties with Pride and goals against. Crush if they can hold NEMS scoreless could jump ahead of Coppermine or Heros for better GA. M&D would have to play either Coppermine, Heros or Crush first round. Tough first round.

Well, I’d say there is a Hell of a lot riding on that Hero’s/Coppermine game next Saturday.

What happened with Coppermine and Stars?

Not so fast my friend, one contingency and one question on how the tiebreaker is applied.

But first, you have the right teams for #s 5-8, but pretty clear that Stars will beat Integrity and finish 6-2 for the #5 seed; M&D Black really should beat CCL and lead the 5-3 teams at #6; I don't see any way that Sky Walkers loses to FCA, and they have allowed fewer goals against going in, so they will finish #7, and then FCA squeaks in at #8.

Top four are really interesting. Coppermine and Hero's playing for the title at 7-0. Pride (24 Goals Against) and Crush (30 Goals Against) sitting at 6-1. Both Pride and Crush should win out playing teams at the bottom of the standings. What gets interesting is how tiebreaker will be applied:

--Hero's Green loses--3-way tie at 7-1. Hero's has head to head win over Pride. Pride likely to finish with lowest Goals Against. Hero's Green and Crush didn't play each other, and Hero's has a 6-goal lead in Goals Against against them. But Hero's plays Coppermine which averages over 11 goals a game, so if they lose, they will have most likely given up 7 or more goals. Meanwhile, Crush can blank or hold NEMS to a goal or two fairly easily.

--Coppermine loses--3 way tie at 7-1. Coppermine has head to head win over Crush. Pride has a six goal lead in goals against and is unlikely to relinquish that playing MD United West, and with Coppermine playing Hero's. Same facts re possibility of Crush overtaking Coppermine in Goals Against.

So, it comes down to how the tiebreaker is applied. The NGLL Rules state:

"2. Head to Head Competition (if there is a three way tie in head to head competition, that tiebreaker is thrown out).
3. Goals allowed vs. in-division opponents"

The rules do not explicitly state what happens if there is a three-way tie, but not all the teams have played each other. Does anyone know how this works in practice? If Head to Head is thrown out, then Pride will almost certainly be the #2 seed in either scenario. The would seem strange in the event that Hero's is 3rd and beat Pride, but it appears that they have to throw out Head to Head to be fair to the team that didn't play either of the others...

So, my guess is that they will go to Goals Against for the 3-way tie at seed #s 2-4, and the results could end up being: #2 Pride; #3 Crush; and #4 Coppermine/Hero's. Rough opener for Stars if this is accurate.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and you have better info on the application of the tiebreakers.

This poster just made my long post points much more succinctly. Are you sure that's how the tiebreaker works?

But it's Star's at 6-2, not M&D that will be in the #5 slot.
