The elite private schools are getting rid of grades altogether.

It's going to be a hard wake up call for kids who become adults and enter the working world. Guess what? They're going to be evaluated, measured, and compared to higher achieving co-workers. Having never gone through that in their lives, I wonder if they'll be prepared for the working world.

Or will the working world follow suit and stop evaluations? I bet consumers will demand otherwise.

Half of America will do quotas and kumbaya, and have poor productivity, and half will do the above- along with the rest of the world which will gladly pull ahead. China must really be laughing at the self-destruction.

they were already laughing at the US for doling out spots in colleges based on the applicant's ability to play a sport, because they donated money or because their parents attended the school. So if you weren't complaining about that, maybe you should wonder why you're complaining here.

Funny how Big 10 and the schools “that dole out athlete spots” are the ones that require test scores still, GPA, rank and AP scorers.

I’m for merit. I do interviews. I give performance reviews. I promote and hire people based on their case studies/work, skills, transcript and talking about, ability to speak about their decisions and dreams, and passion for the job.

Smart team player athletes and military make excellent workers and leaders at the firms I’ve worked at. And they’re coachable, trainable, take feedback and do it! And now many are on the buyside overseeing many companies and capital.

Much better than a stuck up kid that never did much on the field or on a test. Complaining is not a good luck. Other people are out there accomplishing things and showing off what they know on tests (gasp!).

I'm sure the Big 10 schools are requiring multiple AP scores to play football at their school. Give me a break.

I know you need to justify the special treatment you probably received and can't face the truth that you got a benefit. It sounds like you've convinced yourself that it's all earned. But that doesn't mean that other countries aren't looking at the US admissions scheme and laughing at it.

Pretty sure other countries don't give a fig about U.S. college admissions.

More red herrings and deflection.

Allied countries are definitely concerned that America is ripping itself apart socially. And most educated immigrants do substantial math supplementing in the early years for their kids.

Non ally countries hope America tears itself to shreds and gets distracted internally. Cherry on top would be a populace where half are illiterate in math or English and the other half have no actual hard skills.
