| I think this addition is ridiculous. I am glad to see so many of you, even the Republican member of the board of supervisors, support limitations on by right development. I also think most of the infill development is ridiculous. So many tear downs of reasonable size homes replaced by massive homes with almost no yards. I hope the county restricts those, too. The unfettered rights of property owners in Virginia are ridiculous. |

I'm from a native, ethnic culture, been here over 40 years. This man is a slimeball. He is using his "culture" as some sort of shield to justify all of this. Of course he is not sending his parents to the nursing home - the home belongs to them, not him and he hopes to get it after they pass. This is the way it works. I agree with others here that everyone is in cahoots - the parents and kids. They want to build an apt building and run a commercial operation - albiet all cash with zero taxes paid. GTFO |

I saw the guy in TV here is my question.
Why is it Legal for his parents to live with him? On Long Island a single family neighborhood is single family. You need a permit to move a patent in, requires a building inspector, a permit, reviewed annually and neighbors can voice concern. My old town was incorporated and strictly zoned we did not allow it at all. single family is single family. The root of issue is multigenerational housing, block that and two stories should be max. His timing is bad though. He would for sure get away with it in 2021-2022. Now people are recognizing that just knee jerk deference to any non-white person out of white guilt is not actually good policy, and you seem more people, including progressive white people, thinking more critically. These people are con artists, it has nothing to do with their race and everything to do with their character. The neighborhood is racially diverse and people of all races oppose this idiotic monstrosity that is CLEARLY going to be used as an illegal apartment building or AirBnB. I know some racists have wandered into this thread and the conversation to express anti-Asian sentiment -- it's unfortunate such people exist and will seize on opportunities like this. But it doesn't mean people are just going to roll over and accept this. I think people are mobilizing. If they can't get the construction torn down, I think the building will be watched like a hawk for other violations and reported for everything else. Everyone in the neighborhood has a vested interest in making this go away. |
