Well, if they understood Christianity and not the narrow minded lies about it you read and the wrong view of it presented by people who do terrible things in its name, then they would know to feel the exact opposite. The whole point of Christianity is to love one another and welcome everyone as you would welcome Christ. Literally, that's it. Sadly, too many are failing at this simple command. |
You can more easily keep these out of private buildings, you know. |
From a purely naturalist starting point, what does "moral" mean? Because nature is red in tooth and claw, and survival of the fittest is the prevailing mechanism for how we got here, why shouldn't the stronger simply dominate the weaker, as it aids in survival? |
That is how you see it. I think caring for family, community, humanity leads to greater advancement. You don't have to crush others to win, that is what some people lack understanding of. |
What kind of Christians do you think are likely spreading these cards because it's not the respectful golden rules Christians. |
Exactly! It's the rude, pushy "I'm right and everyone else is wrong" ones that do this. |
Forgive me for being crude, but there are certain segments of humanity that are impeding our advancement (the definition of which may be up for debate). Why should we not do as the rest of the animal kingdom does and leave them behind? [Let me reiterate: I don't think this way, but if you take naturalism to its logical conclusion, it's where you end up.] If you want to find a naturalist who *does* believe this, go read Peter Singer. It's frightening. |
You enjoying that Kool-aid, sweetie pie? |
+1 We have a better chance of producing descendants if we live in a community. And certain social rules (murder is bad) make those communities successful. I’m convinced that some humans just need an external influence to help them make good decisions (AKA follow social rules/expectations). It just doesn’t come naturally for them. A good example is “born again” believers. Many made very bad choices earlier in life and wanted to make a change. So they chose an external influence to keep themselves in line. |
Wait till the Diwali lights are mentioned and OP goes insane. |
The legal challenge will come when the satanic temple shows up and demands that they be allowed to put messages in mailboxes. School secretary or whoever made this questionable choice says “no.” School could get sued and would lose. |
it really really does. |
I’d just roll my eyes. I’m more concerned about the people who want to arm teachers. |
they're the same ones I fear. |
Where in the Constitution will I locate a prohibition against the distribution of a greeting card? |
