He'd have to commute from Goochland County, but, honestly, I don't know any really good schools in conservative areas in Virginia. He'd have to move to a rural area, hence why the schools would be terrible.

No reason the schools would be terrible. There might be fewer students capable of advanced work, but the offerings might be better than the NOVA districts which have been pushing equity. 7th grade algebra or 6th grade will be easier to get in rural areas pretty soon.

Keep dreaming. There are almost no AP classes in rural area and teaching is abysmal simply because the kids have no interest in studying. The main drivers of advanced education are the parents' income and education levels. Rural America is mostly meth, not MIT PhDs.

Of course not, because cities also have a lot of poor, uneducated parents. In order to get a decent education in America, you need to be in a wealthy suburban area, which is most likely liberal, OR pay $$$ for top private school. OP is poor, so he doesn't have a ton of choices.

Because it brings very different religious and political views into the mix. Some people love that type of diversity, others don't.

I work at the Pentagon. Most of the people I work with are fairly conservative (not MAGA conservative, but rather traditionally conservative). If OP wants true family values, I agree with these communities. If she wants MAGA, then she needs to move to McLean.

Enlisteds are conservative. Especially Air Force, ugh. Officers generally aren't because of their level of education. Being around the military is no guarantee that you'll be in the presence of forced birthers and homophobes like OP wants.

My son's Catholic school can't fill a van to take to March for Life. The vast majority of the attendees are shipped in from outside the DC area because even the Catholics in this town know that they're not winning this one.

I haven't read all the replies here--but we are in MCPS with similar views as OP's friend and have teens, and the key to surviving is a church with an active and supportive youth group. Your friend needs to find that piece right away because it isn't easy around here for kids from "conservative" families. (I don't like that label though.) The comments I have read here demonstrate that.

I mean, if you need religion in your school or something go private. But if you can’t afford that, the publics are all six of one, half dozen of the other. There’s no politics in them or anything so your conservative leanings are a red herring.

There is no other explanation for the complete fog about the STRONG political leanings of the nova public school systems. Of course, to a family who is in total lockstep with every single piece of leftist ideaology that is reinforced in northern Virginia public schools, it makes sense that they wouldnt even see how any of that could be a problem. But let’s just say if the shoe were on the other foot, PP would notice.

OP—if your family is Christian, try a private Christian School. Since you’re going to be in Fairfax, try Trinity Christian School. It’s a decent sized K-12 community and pretty conservative.
If not particularly religious but still want conservative then Catholic is your best bet but even many of those in this area are much less conservative than you might think
