I changed my party affiliation to not have to deal with this |
Has anyone ever gone from County Executive to the United States Senate before? Alsobrooks feels like a lightweight to me. At least Trone has some name recognition. I fear Alsobrooks will be crushed 95-5 in parts of Maryland where Democrats have to keep the margin to 80-20. |
I am sure that it’s happened but it’s rare. County Executives usually go for executive offices, like AG or governor. County and state legislators usually go for legislative offices, House and Senate. Joe Biden went direct from county council to US Senate, but that’s rare and probably only possible because Delaware is so small. Obama was in state legislature. So was Ben Cardin. |
My husband and I voted for Alsobrooks today! Fingers crossed. |
Congrats. Our household voted Trone. |
Alsobrooks vote here - in early voting |
"AlsoBowser" - no thanks. Maryland doesn't need a vapid senator. |
We’ve had Presidents that previously held no political office.. |
So no. They did not go from county executive straight to Senator. Thanks for clarifying. |
I hope David wins |
He’s behind as of now, so Hogan is probably happy. |
Race called for Alsobrooks.
|
The Dems need to paint Hogan as falling in line with the MAGA agenda. There is no escaping it, no matter how much he wants to claim independence. He is a pro-life "pro-business" GOP who will be a sure vote for McConnell or whoever the GOP leader is. The country cannot afford that in the Senate. Alsobooks can also showcase here chops as a prosecutor and being "tough on crime" |
Well, it's probably true that Hogan would need to fall in line with the other Republicans. Hopefully that's enough to get Marylanders to vote for Alsobrooks. But it is really disappointing to watch what happens in primaries in Maryland. |
At some point primary voters are going to need to learn and accept that is going to happen if they keep nominating bad candidates. |
