“Admissions denied me for Notre Dame,” Hillman told The Athletic’s Austin Meek. “As you can see, I could have committed to any other school. Notre Dame had requirements I had to meet, and I didn’t meet it.”

“ Once, Hillman announced his release from his Letter of Intent, the offers rolled in. Michigan was joined in offering by Virginia, Boston College, Vanderbilt, UConn, Virginia Tech, LSU, Louisville and Cincinnati.”

ND sounds pretty selective to me. And seems Virginia, Vanderbilt, and BC don’t have as high standards for students. Interesting.

I remember this scandal from just a few year ago:

https://nypost.com/2016/11/22/notre-dame-football-punished-for-cheating-scandal/

The holier than thought attitude of the ND faithful is ridiculous. High standards only mean something when you’re not caught cheating.

Agreed. Notre Dame seems to have forgotten that is was football that made that school famous and improved its academics, and not the other way around.

Probably because ND doesn’t accept ASL as a foreign language. Such an outdated, discriminatory policy.

Agreed. I think the administration is forgetting what brought fame and academic prestige to their school in the first place. Without football in its past, ND would not be anywhere near its quality today.

Hahahaha nice try. It really doesn’t matter though does it? ND has been and will continue to be top 20 with some of the brightest students in the country. You cannot deny that lol. And at least the expectations of its athletes are among the highest in the country as well and they still compete at a high level. Just amazing!!

High standards are great, when they’re actually enforced. ND isn’t holier than thou in that regard, although they periodically pretend to be. That is until they’re caught.

First that is ancient history. Second, it only goes to prove that the curriculum is rigorous. I am glad they have gotten back on track.

Take football put of Notre Dame’s history and it’s just a nice Catholic University near a depressed city.

Without football, Notre Dame would be just another Catholic university located outside a depressed city.

Gotta admit, the football makes for a really fun and exciting campus life. That combined with the excellent academics is part of why it is such a desirable school. So many want to be there but they can't take them all!! Blessed that my kid is there!!!

Of course it does, as it does at all major college football programs. The point being that ND was a big time football player way before they became an academic powerhouse. Most of the top schools in this country came about it the other way. Not that there’s anything wrong with it. The end result is what is important.

Of course there is nothing wrong with it! Love how ND has been on the rise...and will continue to be.

^^^^Very impressive. Now if only ND would fully join a football conference so they can average 3-4 losses every year.

Wrong. No such rumor about that. He was supposed to take a course his senior year and did not comply. ND and ND football will be fine.

He was missing a foreign language requirement that was met at all of the other schools. ND is outdated and doesn’t accept ASL as many other schools do.

Source? Show me proof it had something to do with language requirement.

My kid refused to apply due to the school’s politics.

Interesting. My kid who is at ND refused to apply to Brown due to the school's politics. Isn't it nice that we have choices? ND at least has more of a spectrum of opinions on campus whereas liberal ivies stifle discussion.

What politics?

My kid is not aware of any politics, and having great time with very optimistic future.

Everything

The school’s anti-choice, anti-birth control, anti-lgbtq stances + lack of important on equal opportunity by admitting so many legacies

admitting so many legacies - this is same as any other elite schools. 43% of Harvard White students are ALDC.
anti-birth control - you can buy birth control all you want, and use it. There's no such policy that you can't use it.
anti-lgbtq - on what basis?? never heard of it.
anti-choice: I think you can get birth control all you want, and don't' get expelled.

Zero issue for my non-Catholic kid.

I meant

anti-choice: I think you can get as many abortions as you want, and don't' get expelled.

You should tell the priest who spoke at admitted students day and shared that he runs the lgbtq group that the school does not tolerate that. Or maybe just don’t post if you don’t have facts right.

Notre Dame's official site has all these LGBTQ student clubs, organizations, supports.
