Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress, died of an aneurysm today. I got to know her this past year, and she was a brave and principled woman who was a major force for good. What a loss.

I work at a television station, & Associated Press is reporting that she is still alive, w/limited brain function. This was as of 2:45pm.
|
CNN posted that she died and then quoted a rep saying she was in critical condition. |
OP here. Yes, they've backed off the death statement. Apparently they took her off life support. 14:51 or 14:56, if you get updated info, please do post it. Thanks so much. |
She was pronounced dead tonight. She was a joyous, passionate, and remarkable person. I am deeply saddened and my prayers are with her family. |
I'm so sorry to hear this! She was too young to leave so soon! |
I just wanted to add that she was a lovely person. I have worked with numerous members of congress over the years and she stood out as head and shoulders above the rest. Smart, caring, effective, and committed to the american dream. Plus, the kind of person who treated others with respect no matter their level. She will be missed. |
