Baby Models

All,
Does anyone know which companies to submit your babies pictures for baby modeling?

I see so many cute babies on the cover of parenting and baby magazines, I want to submit my daughters pictures.

Please advise.

Everyone thinks their baby is beautiful!

I know you didn't ask for advice, but isn't that what these boards are for -- unsolicited advice??

I was a child model (not a JonBenet beauty queen, but TV/print modeling). It really messed with my head. I really believed that beauty and cuteness were paramount, and then when I couldn't model anymore -- I wasn't destined to be 6 feet tall and 105 lbs, I went through an awkward stage like most kids do, etc etc, I really had issues.

I also feel it put a big distance between me and my parents -- they clearly wanted me to do this and succeed at it, and I grew resentful and deliberately tried to mess up in auditions so that they didn't get their wish.

Good luck with whatever you do, but really think through what being a model does to a kid's head and ask yourself if it's worth it.

Most baby magazine's do annual model calls so you might want to contact them. Otherwise, the big agencies are in NY. I don't know the names but you can probably find them online. I am sure their websites provide details on submitting photos. The process is very complicated, the industry is extremely competitive and in many ways, bogus. You need to have a lot of time to devote in finding the right people.

All the big NYC modeling agencies have children/baby divisions. Ford, Elite, Wilhelmina, etc... It doesn't take much, just send in a plain old picture you take yourself and if they like it, they'll call you and sign you. Problem is, we don't live in NYC. So in order for your child to actually get any work they'll need to go on a bunch of auditions, the majority of which will be in NYC or LA.

Too much trouble (for me anyway) if you don't intend to be a stage mom and have this be a big part of your family's life.

Someone's kids have to be in all those ads that are produced each year - it might as well be yours. At least that's my feeling. I have read that you just need to send in a normal photograph you take - make sure it is clear and is a headshot and then one that is full length and then send a letter about your child - age, height, weight, temperment, something like that and just send it to the agencies and if they are interested they will get back to you. Not to be discouraging but I do know several people who did this and their children were signed to big NYC agencies but never did any work. I think their kids pics just went into their files at the agencies. The agency didn't seem to actually solicit work for this kids.
