Catholic schools in Alexandria, VA - when to begin the process?

I'm wondering how much in advance I need to be looking into Catholic grade schools? My brother (in another state) just enrolled his 3 year old daughter in full day pre-school in order to make sure she gets a spot in the kinder class. Anyone have any experience to share regarding how soon we need to start? The closest schools to us are St. Louis and St. Mary's and we are parishioners at Good Shepard.

Call the schools you are interested in and ask. St. Bernadette's does not require early action and in fact have had some difficulties keeping enrollment up.

It really depends on the school. St Mary's does not guarantee a in for kindergarten just b/c you got into preschool. Basically if you are not Catholic, forget St Mary's, and even if you are, you better join that parish. I think most others are pretty easy to get in to, but it never hurts to call them and find out straight from the horses mouth.
