Sacred Heart Bilingual Catholic School

Anonymous
Hi, does anyone know much about this school? I found out about the school for the first time this past Holy Week when I saw the students at Mass and doing the stations at Franciscan Monastery. I was really impressed by the feeling of community, the student's behavior, and how they were really engaging with their faith. I am interested in the PK-3 classroom for DS because I think that it would be a great opportunity for him to become fluent in Spanish. This school wasn't even on my radar before and I had been planning to apply to preschools in Bethesda close to work. Sacred Heart would be close to home but certainly very different than what I had in mind previously. I'd love to hear from any parents who have first hand knowledge of the school. TIA! http://sacredheartschooldc.org/index.cfm?active=1

I don't know anything about this school, but am now definitely interested. We would like to continue a bilingual immersion education for our twins, but it is not at all likely that we will get any acceptances into preK for any of our charter schools of choice.

We were looking at St/ Anne's Academy on Wisconsin as a back up, but now based on what I've seen on Sacred Heart's website, I am definitely more interested in their program for our kids.

I hope someone chimes in with some comments.

Wonderful community, good English teachers and some good Spanish teachers. What they don't have because of bring a catholic school, they more than make up for by being a cohesive "family." Watch out for PK/K Spanish teacher--she's a real piece of work. Doesn't treat small children as they should be treated. Otherwise, lovely school always trying to be better. Caters to Latinos, but outsiders have a lot of sway as well.

A friend of mine sent her child there -- they weren't Catholic but it didn't matter. They were pleased overall. Their child is doing extremely well academically at Deal.
