Arkansas Democratic Party chair murdered today

Bill Gwatney, the chairman of the Arkansas Democratic Party, was killed by a gunman who burst into the party's Little Rock headquarters today.
This is a huge loss, not only to his family and close friends but to the Democratic Party. My history with the party in Arkansas goes back two decades thanks to my partner, who is from Little Rock, and we were all horrified to learn of this.

I saw this and was shocked. I do not understand why this guy picked him out? It seems as though they didn't know each other and he had nothing to do with this person getting fired from Walmart. Of course, getting fired is no reason to shoot anyone but the whole things seems surreal.
