Feedback on Camps in Montgomery County (Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville, Bethesda)

Anonymous
Now that the summer camps season is starting to wind down, I thought it would be a good time to collect feedback on camps in the Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg or Germantown areas. I'm thinking ahead to next year, so your thoughts on any camps (specifically for a 5 year old) would be so valuable. I figure I'd ask this now while the experience is "fresh" in your minds. Thanks so much!!

We enrolled in the Barrie camp and did not care for it because you have to enroll for a minimum of four weeks; the camp is expensive compared to other camps in the area; they offer the same small set of specialty camps year after year; and the regular camp's program is the same year after year. For all of the reasons we did not like Barrie we love Sandy Springs Friends camp. They have a huge variety of specialty camps as well as a regular camp; the price is much less than Barrie; you are only required to enroll for one week; and the specialty camp offerings and the camp themselves (regular and specialty) change year after year.

We also enrolled our kids in Camp Olympia one summer and would not recommend it. The counselors would yell at the kids (my kids complained and I witnessed it) and the after camp program consists of the kids sitting on benches outside until their parents came.
