How can I get that is not canned?
I found some recipes and would love to try out more |
| What is it ? |
| Hominy things do you want to know? |
| You can buy it dry at latin stores and then reconstitute it. You can't buy it fresh, fyi. Make some posole! |
| Isn't it the same thing as grits? |
| Grits are the ground version of hominy. |
|
I love hominy in this:
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Chicken-and-Hominy-Soup-237029 You can use veggie broth and omit the chicken if you want it vegetarian. |
| Whole foods had it dried. Soup section I think. |
| 14:26 here. They have it labeled as posole, but I believe it is the same thing. I make posole, not hominy, so I am not sure. |
| Hominy is a type of white corn. It's usually sold either canned or ground. |
| If it's fresh, it's called corn. To make your own hominy, you'd need lye -- not exactly a good artisanal project for a random Sunday afternoon. Buy the canned stuff and make a big pot of pozole. |
same thing. |
