And sadly, this may degrade their good schools like Rice, SMU and UT-Austin.

"nice", rich, college students there will go out of state to get their abortions, paid for by mommy and daddy who probably support Rs due to "low taxes".

And anyone who helps a girl go out of state could be sued.

I don't think that's the case. It only applies in state, I thought.

But, they are using gestapo tactics. Anyone can report you. It's disgusting. It's like North Korea, but the other way. In NK they can force abortions. In TX, they can force births. So disturbing.

Why?

Because abortion is murder.

But this law allows abortions from conception until 5 weeks 6 days. Why are you so proud of it? Doesn’t life begin at conception? And the person who asked for and received the abortion (aka “the murderer”) faces absolutely no consequences whatsoever. How does that make sense?

And what about IVF? You’re creating embryos (life begins at conception, no?) that will be trashed if they aren’t used. Shouldn’t prolifers be demonstrating outside fertility clinics?

I’ve already done this.

You’re sad for them? You do realize that most people never want/need/get an abortion? Did you think millions of people would move out of Texas because of this law?

You really think that this won’t affect all women somehow? Haven’t you heard of cases in other countries that have outlawed abortion where women have been imprisoned after having a miscarriage? What if a woman has a late miscarriage and her partner thinks she’s had an abortion and reports her, her friends, family etc. Can’t you see how this might play out? And many, many women have abortions, it’s just that most of them don’t talk about it.

So the idea isn’t to punish the woman getting the abortion ( at least not directly). I feel like that is getting confused on this post.
This is about abortion providers being inundated with nuisance lawsuits and going bankrupt.
It’s insane they can’t recoup court costs.
But the plaintiff can? How is that even legal?

Women who miscarry are going to be accused of abortion in this Texas Handmaid’s Tale. There will be a witch-hunt by sadistic relatives or abusive exes while these suffering women are trying to heal. They will be on trial for having miscarriages. See: El Salvador.

Good idea. Given the big data that’s just out there for the buying, it’s probably not too hard to identify which of them actually are seeking out abortions. They should know no peace until this Taliban-esque law is repealed and full reparations made to its victims.

So we can all be told what to do without bodies if we live in Texas?

So those jerks could be told to wear a mask or get a vaccine?

Jeffrey Toobin is on CNN right now talking about this case.

I threw up a little in my mouth.

The law is total nonsense. It's unconstitutional and not how the law works. If this idea is taken to other areas of law, it will upend the rule of law as we know it in this country. And no one wants that, not liberals and especially not conservatives.

Pure idiocy.

I would imagine only submissive women will vote for GOP in Texas from now on.

You do realize women are directly impacted. They will no longer be able to find providers able to offer the procedure. How is that not being directly impacted?

They aren’t being directly sued. That’s what I’m saying.
Also wondering if this opens up the possibility of suing gun manufacturers in state court?
Can victims of gun violence now go after them?

Can't you see how outlandish that example is?

True. And just wait until they start attacking birth control, which is next on the list.

This law is some East German Communist STASI Communist BS. Snitching on your neighbors.

A grotesque use of the judicial system. I think the unintended consequences are going to take a toll in some pretty horrifying ways.
