It's bizarre to support 800,000 DACA recipients and 3.6 million DREAMers who had no choice in the matter when they immigrated here and would be sent back to a country they very well might have no memory of or support system in?

Though I suppose you wouldn't be a Republican if basic human decency wasn't "bizarre" to you...

Yes. It is bizarre to put 800k illegals or 3.6m illegals which is what they are regardless of how or why they came ahead of 850k US CITIZENS who work for the government. The GOP is handling the messaging really well here - this will blow up in Dems faces even if they get their shutdown.

As one of those 850K US CITIZENS, I will gladly forego my paycheck for however long it takes so that millions of innocent people can have a better life.

What's it like living without a soul?

If that is the case than you should already be routinely donating your entire paycheck to charity so that the billions of innocent people in need across the world can have a better life. Unless you are living at subsistence and contributing all additional income to those in need then maybe you should get off your pedestal and stop calling others soulless for being unwilling to forgo their paycheck indefinitely for a cause you deem important.

Tsk tsk. There's that black and white thinking again.

+1. It's how children think.

You must be a real captain of industry to be posting on DCUM on a Friday afternoon.

And apparently poorly informed. We have shutdown.
Thanks for nothing Republicans.

Agree. Also, many perfectly legal employment based green card seekers are affected because DOL is closed.

And Schumer.

Historically I have been a Dem, but I am this close to being done with the party. I support DACA but it should not be the cause of a shutdown. Dems are pandering to their base and playing identity politics instead of considering the good of the country.

But of course Republicans are incapable of governing, so I am not sure where that leaves us. Centrist third party, anyone? Kasich-Hinckenlooper 2020?

Given that the answer to the OP’s question is “100%” and this thread is turning political, it’s probably time to lock it.
