The Four Seasons - Netflix TV show

Both this and the OG were really depressing. Great performances in both.

I loved when Rita Moreno said she wanted to be more like Nick and Ginny as they lept off the sailboat. Also Danny and Claude sneaking off to the resort. I especially liked Anne’s expanded storyline. It was lacking in original.

*I didn't like Nick at all. He was an awful person. It just goes to show how people are glued by old friendships. Kind of similar to sibling relationships.

*I liked Ginny. I think her friends were ridiculous cliches though. Maybe it's to show that she doesn't really belong in that world and that's why she chose Nick. She was a dental hygienist and most dental hygienists I know are not flighty, nor are they in fluid relationships. Maybe that's why the writers picked that as her career.

*How they cast Lila was odd. If you know hedge fund managers children, they are not like her. I'm guessing they were showing that she was more a product of being raised by Anne.

*I liked Anne, but she is not a hedge fund wife either, lol. I think they purposely made her frumpy looking with her clothing and hairstyle.

*I'm a Tina Fey fan, so I naturally liked Kate. Her relationship with her husband was fine. I'm guessing like a post before that she is some kind of lawyer or CFO or something of that nature.

*I liked Danny. I like the scenes where he was one on one with the other characters.

*They could have cast Kate's husband differently. I like Will Forte and he was probably cast because of SNL and 30 Rock, but they didn't have a lot of romantic chemistry. Maybe someone like Paul Rudd or Zach Galifianakis. I'm just spitballing people who can play likeable goofballs pretty well.

*I agree that Tina Fey and Steve Carrell are aging pretty well.

*As a 50 something person, it was nice to see a Gen X series that wasn't just about the kids.

I agree with all this, except if they had cast Paul Rudd, as epic as that would’ve been, the target audience of women is obsessed with Paul Rudd, and I don’t think that we would buy that they would be having marital problems and that she wouldn’t be doing anything but jumping his bones every chance she got.

Only slightly kidding, but he’s almost too appealing for this role and I thought Will forte did a good job of being believably appealing and frustrating.

I will say, I am really pissed that Nick did not have to deal with his choices. I would have loved to see them flash forward a year or two when all the adventures have stopped and Ginny is deep into being a new mom and all that entails. Realistically, she probably would’ve ended up closer to Ann after she and Nick separated. Nick has proven he has no interest in being in the trenches.

OK, maybe not Paul Rudd. He would have probably been more of a star than a supporting character lol.

Maybe Greg Kinnear. He was Tina's love interest in baby mama and they seemed to have chemistry.

I liked it. I've never seen the original, and I'm mid-50s. I liked Nick; I couldn't stand Kate.

If I were Anne, I wouldn't be interested in supporting the baby. I'd rather the money saved during the life we built go to my own children.

Also, the DCUM trope plays out in this series. There aren't a lot of good choices for single women after 30 lol.

+1 The baby is a fascinating twist because you just don't get pregnant by accident in your 30s. Ginny should have waited until marriage or had a better plan if Nick knew, and if not, it's her bed to sleep in for trying to trap him with a baby.

I would hate a second season where Anne supports the baby. 🤮
While Ginny was a surprisingly likeable character and level-headed, a baby without a plan is not, so I can't say I support that about Ginny.

+1 I want to see Anne finally live life on her terms.

I don't think integrating Ginny into their friend group would be good at all. I hope they don't do that.

+1 Paul Rudd would have been too appealing in that role. That said, I thought Will forte was the weakest character - either the script or casting.

His problems seems kind of made up towards the end of the series. He was never portrayed as incompetent in the beginning. Plus, he seems like the kind of person who would be picking up most of the slack at home (attending kid activities, cleaning, etc.). I feel like they had to create a problem to resolve that was never really there.

I hope they don't either. That would just be weird, although I could see them doing it to support Nick's baby.

Yes, he would have been good.

I find Tina Fey deeply annoying, but I don't know why.
And the actress who played Anne seemed permanently bewildered, like a lost puppy.
Steve Carell was awesome, as was Erika Christensen.

Who did she play? I don't recall her being in this.

Love Erica Christensen, but she wasn’t in this show.

This is off topic and I'm not the one who said she was in this show, but does anyone else get her confused with Julia Stiles? For a long time, I didn't realize they were two separate people.
