I’m the op. I’m also a Christian. There is no place for this at school. |
Religion must be kept out of schools because there are individual members and organized groups within religions across history who have used their religion in hateful and murderous ways. Because we can’t police at the individual level within schools, we have to keep it out entirely to preserve the dignity of all children. In other words, sorry that lost your privileges and can’t have nice things because others have misused them, but that’s how it goes. |
But why do you believe any of that? |
These are theological questions that are way above your head. |
AKA there is no rational explanation. You have to believe in supernatural forces. |
You're really insulting non-believers. |
PP here. F*** you. |
Exactly. Feel free to practice your religion at home and church all you want. Do not force feed it at schools or someone's job. It's not rocket science. |
You either find them persuasive or you don't. I personally believe pure naturalism (matter is all there is) does not account for moral realism and that Christianity offers the best explanation for the world as it is. I respect that you disagree with that. I also believe this forum is not the place to debate this. |
What can’t be explained without supernatural forces? |
What is the policy around use of staff mailboxes? If another parent wanted to write a letter to every teacher in the school, would the administration let them? If so, then I don't see the big deal.
May you be touched by his noodly appendage. |
Your example differs not from a Staples coupon distributed to all teachers. |
This reminds me of the Duck Dynasty guy saying without Christianity everyone would be raping and killing each other. I wonder if people who think this way naturally lean towards immorality? Most atheists are far more naturally moral and to me it's just a natural benefit for humanity to care for each other, how is that not obvious to the natural order of things? |
Well, that's not how it all works. We are humans on Earth, not gods in a utopia. What would be the point of human existence if everything were perfect and easy no one ever made mistakes or failed or hurt? |
No kidding! And if they did half the people touting the gesture here would actually change their minds. Evangelicals would flip at Catholic propaganda. Not to mention people who spread these Bible verses are usually nitpicking and changing the verse language for political agenda. |
