He's in his late 70s. He's very aware he's not invincible. He's probably glad he made it to the inauguration and had some time to serve.

+1. He could have predeceased his mother. He seems very grateful to be king.

That happens when you make a claim to be something called "royal". All of them can choose to leave the institution.

The kids can't.

From my very limited experience with family members of that age, after diagnosis, facing the public would be out of the question

Not so fast. My mother has Stage IV pancreatic and has done very well on chemo and goes out in public all the time. She has lost all her hair, unlike Charles, and at her recent PET the chemo has shrunk all her tumors. Treatment is getting better all the time. Why does Charles still have a full head of hair?

Because that picture is probably from six months ago?

They specifically said it was taken 4/10 and named the photographer. They’re giving all the right info to keep clean from kp’s fumbles.

A friend in the UK had chemo after a whipple procedure for pancreatic cancer and it was a kind that didn't affect her hair. She's still living 7 years later with no evidence of cancer.

It probably wasn't chemo and was immunotherapy or radiation. But again we have no idea what he has or what his treatment is but it doesn't appear to be chemo becuase of the hair situation.

My friend just went through 5 rounds. She wore this ice pack thing on her head the whole time. It was $$$. It’s not that she’s vain but more that it was depressing to her to lose her hair too on top of everything else. Her hair is still thick and long so I must have worked.

+1. Also have a friend who did the ice pack procedure and kept her hair. It was fine and short but hair is important to self-esteem.

Are people insisting this is what’s happening? They also claim people on chemo can’t go anywhere and they and everyone around them must mask all the time.

Of course not. It is just interesting information for someone who might want to keep their hair through chemo.

I don’t feel badly for him at all. His mother never wanted him to be king. He’s lucky she didn’t pass it right to William.

I have heard the Queen never wanted Charles to be King.. Please provide actual evidence

It doesn’t work that way.

+1. My mom, who was definitely not royalty, updated her will periodically to deal with changes in family members' circumstances, like divorces. Maybe Charles decided to write Andrew and Harry out completely, that's all.

Andrew is very much a welcome member of their private family. There’s no way he would be prevented from attending his big brother’s funeral. And only William will inherit all of the king’s fortune because they don’t have to pay taxes when it goes to the heir.

Both Andrew and his ex-wife Fergie are welcome.

Nobody said they weren’t. But not on official roles in something like a funeral service, that’s the point.

The Queen blamed Charles for almost destroying the monarchy with his affair with Camila . The Queen unfairly was blamed for hating Diana when she ultimately blamed Charles for the dissolution of the marriage. She liked Diana and her family and that’s why Charles married her in the first place.

So you are making stuff up. I believe the Queen believed in the history of the Monarchy and the importance of keeping to tradition. Charles was the heir and so unless you prove otherwise I believe the Queen wanted Charles to be King. She also believed in was a life long job and that you died in office so to speak. Which she did.

Charles didn’t make her final years easier. Apparently, the Queen was informally giving Charles extra duties during the latter years of her life and one of those duties was to make sure Harry had a nicer house . The Queen understands living lavishly is part of the role, but Charles foolishly thought cutbacks would be better to fit the country’s mood. This led to huge blowback when Meghan misinterpreted the cutbacks via an American lens as a slight to her or race thing. In actuality, the Queen preferred Meghan to Kate actually based on initial reports due to her public speaking gigs and thought she’d be great for the kingdom. Hence, Oprah and all the blowback along with the disaster Prince Andrew was.

The Queen didn’t have any easy time in her latter years due to the dumbasses Charles and Andrew

Great for the monarchy* not kingdom.

The Queen knew Charles was vindictive, competitive, and ill prepared. Even in his cancer statement, he slighted Kensington Palace by saying he wanted to avoid mass speculation

It didn’t matter what the Queen believed. The first born is the heir.

Yes, the Queen resented Camilla or Charles for many years. Due to misogyny, the Queen received blame for Diana’s mistreatment despite Diana not having an issue with the Queen. It’s all Charles’ mess. How do you think the Queen felt when tampon gate appeared? Drama and upheaval always happen with Charles and I’m not surprised that’s what his short reign has been marred with so far. His two sons can’t even get along and Charles can’t make them get along. He just isn’t a unifying figure and has a closer relationship with Camilla’s kids than his own. It always takes a woman to be the anchor of the family .
The Queen was that for her family

And William will be worse than Charles . He’s just like Charles as Diana noted

Right. Gossip doesn’t need to be based on facts. Actually, it rarely is!

Even if you were against the institution, the Queen was an incredibly likable figure. Charles and William lack that charm. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out, and if they do anything to go back to the QE2 way of doing things.
