insurance company does cover both ozempic and wegovy. so they already decided they would do it.

and my doctors think i need them. it's weird to me that there the company needs to make additional approval to cover the medicine they already decided to cover. if they don't want to cover wegovy, fine. but why second guess my doctor? why would they know better what i need?

Because they know people would drop them if they took Wegovy off the formulary.

Most people have insurance through their employer so this idea that individuals impulsively drop carriers is a fiction. There’s only one open enrollment season anyway.

I pay for Ozempic out of pocket and but insurance through the exchange (self employed) and I’m definitely going to try to switch to a plan that will cover it. I doubt I can find one, unfortunately. I was the high end of prediabetic and I was solidly obese when I started but I’ve lost 45 lbs so far thanks to Ozempic so idk how I could qualify now, perversely.

US healthcare is dumb. The only silver lining is that this problem will sort itself out in the next decade or so. There will be so much competition and eventually easier to navigate generics. We’re all just stuck in this penalty period where the pharma companies suck up the profit. Although…they kind of deserve it? They may have cured obesity. If these drugs work for even a slice of people as well as they have worked for me, our collective healthcare costs will go down a lot. I feel like my whole life I thought I was just weak/crazy and now I feel like I’m in control of my life again.

The person saying there’s no shortage is referring to Ozempic. There is no Ozempic shortage. It’s the correct substitute for Wegovy so there should be nothing wrong with taking it instead. Insurance games though.

THERE IS AN OZEMPIC SHORTAGE AND ITS ON THE DRUG SHORTAGE WEBSITE. Just stop already! I’m type 2 and I take 2mg, and that dosage is in an official shortage, so please stop spreading your lies.

2mg is not a Wegovy dose so you can stop being angry with people on Wegovy. They are getting .25 .50 and 1.0 of Ozempic then getting Wegovy 1.7 and 2.4 which are in stock

Healthcare in America sucks so much ass. Who are expressscripts to deny doctors orders?

Droopy as in her neck sags 3” off her jawline with folds and crinkles! Thin skin on arms hangs 5”. Wrinkled skin at thighs hangs below her knees. Her butt looks like she wears a diaper because there’s so much excess skin. She has no muscle tone and I swear her skin moves when the wind blows. And she’s losing her hair. She aged at least 10 years in a fraction of one. And I think she knows it because she’s been piling on the make up. And that’s only what I can see, who knows what her mid section looks like. Maybe I’m too vain but who wants to look worse after weight loss? Op, think long and hard.

You are a vile person.

Yep. Straight trash. And they are probably completely making that story up.

The title of this is about Ozempic and if you can read, someone was blathering on about how ozempic isn’t in a shortage. Keep telling yourself these lies.

You’re charming but we’re talking about different sites. The Ozempic site doesn’t mention a shortage. Logically, it should. The Wegovy site does mention it.

But no one is taking your 2mg. Relax.

Your FDA site says only 2mg dose is experiencing a shortage and only until mid August. Weight loss patients do not need the 2mg dose because Wegovy 1.7 is in stock. And it’s August 9. Relax.

Which foreign utopia are you aware of that tosses around drugs like these for anybody who wants them? We will wait to hear about it in detail.

I tried to pick up my dose of 2mg and was first unable to get it because thanks to people like op wanting it for weight loss, I had to get a prior authorization. Finally got that approved and now I can’t get my 2mg dose in stock because it’s in a shortage. I hope all of you people taking diabetes medication away from diabetes end up with diabetes. Then you’ll know how this feels.

*taking medication away from diabetics

You remind me of all the people who skipped the lines to get vaccines, awful humans.

Well diabetics need the 2mg dose and now we can’t get it. You people are truly amazing. You don’t care at all, do you?
