Visiting schools- Pre-k and kindergarten

My son will be going into pre-k next fall and I've started thinking about visiting some schools this fall. Only 1 or 2 schools that I am considering start in pre-k and the rest begin in K. Should I visit all of these schools this fall so I can compare all of them? Do some parents visit schools 2 yrs in advance? Do schools allow parents to visit this far in advance?

You could get their brochures and visit during the open houses and you could drive/walk around the campus a bit on your own when school isn't in session, but I wouldn't schedule any formal visits until you are in the right admissions year. Thats how I did it anyway.

Definitely make use of the open house times. I would go ahead and look at all the schools if you have time--it will help you make a more informed decision regarding whether to start private at pre-k or k, depending on your favorite schools.
