How About 4th Grade?

Anonymous
Is this independent school admission process a bit nuts and oversubscribed for 4th grade as well...or is it just Pre-K and K? Also, I've heard that testers get booked up and it can be difficult to get an appointment as the months roll on. How far in advance do I need to get an appointment scheduled? Thanks.

I don't think it's as crazy for 4th grade, although it's all relative. For one thing, not every school has an entry year in 4th grade.

Its crazy IF you are applying to St Albans/NCS.

Or if you are leaving 3rd grade at Beauvoir and do not want NCS/St. Albans.

OP also asked about testers--DEFINITELY call asap. We applied for 4th grade this year and called in late Sept. and got our preferred tester's LAST appointment--January!! And she said even that was risky because of weather. You definitely want the luxury of choosing your day of the week, not getting too close to school holidays when the kids might be tired from travel, etc....
It is a fairly big entry year. Of course the Beauvoir kids are all applying out, but a fair number of kids are also leaving other schools that don't end until 6th or 8th grade...
I believe I heard Potomac had a record number of 4th grade applicants last year.

OP here. Can anyone recommend a tester for the WISC (for 4th grade applicant)?

Thanks! Do you know if she works well with boys (e.g., very much a guy's guy)?
