Too late to freeeze this?

Anonymous
I made a big batch of chili (with ground beef) and a batch of spaghetti sauce (with pork) on Monday midday. I refridgerated it right away. It's now Wednesday night, and we're not going to get around to eating it this week, poor planning. Is it too late to freeze it? I'm asking more from a food safety perspective than a quality of taste perspective. I'm just a little nervous about food safety, leftovers, etc. Thanks!

In my opinion, it's very safe to freeze--I've frozen similar dishes after the same period of time.

It will be fine to freeze it, but just remember that when you thaw it, it will have a shorter shelf life. When you thaw it, you'll probably only have that day and the next to consume what you thaw before you have to toss anything left. If you have a lot left, I would split it into smaller portions basically one meal for X people (depending on how many you have eating a meal together) and only thaw each portion as needed.

It's fine. If you would consider it safe to eat, it's safe to freeze & eat later IMO.
