The ref ruled possession to MDU after examining the stick.

The ref did not examine the pocket. He awarded possession because he was not familiar with the stringing. This was challenged by the coach and the ref actually had no idea at the end of the game why he called the stick illegal. His words were "I need to educate myself". He never checked pocket depth. That same stick was checked in Hero's game that followed and the ref who actually knew what he was doing approved it and continued play. And MDU parents and coaches (whoever is posting on here), also saw that same draw girl used a completely different stick and still won the remaining draw.

The fact is, the Coppermine draw girl had her stick looked at before the draw, the ref examined the stick (or pocket, but that’s Symantec’s) and awarded possession to MDU.

The ref called stick illegal.

What about the above was not factual?

This was also early in 2nd half, it certainly did not cost Coppermine the game.

Was it a bad call? Its not like a judgment call of out of bounds. They literally looked at the stick and gave possession. if the ref deems the stick illegal, its illegal.

If the ref said a legal stick was illegal, and evidently it was issue in another game, you might want to consider not using that stick, for whatever reason makes refs think it was illegal.

FYI, last year at NGLL Nationals at same venue, Philly Blast was purposely cheating using illegal pocket against MDU so this is not a new thing. The PB player even had enough sense to huddle teammates around her to adjust the pocket before handing it to refs.

you award the team possession on a completely legal stick ,waste 3 minutes in a game and take momentum away from Coppermine. Cost Coppermine the game. I say it's the ref fault for making a bad call
