| How do you keep the dogs from eating the vegetables and/or peeing on the garden? We've done container gardening on the deck in the past to keep the veggies from the dogs, but I want a real garden this year! The backyard is the only place it makes sense to put it, and the dogs go out in the backyard a couple of times a day. Some sort of fencing seems like it might work, but obviously we need to be able to access the garden to tend it and I have no idea what type of simple fencing that we can install ourselves would let us in but keep dogs out. We don't have the money in our budget to spend a lot, so I want a simple, low cost DIY solution if there is one. We have one male dog in particular who will eat anything he can get his paws on and likes to lift his leg and mark. Any suggestions welcome. |

You could have the dominant male in the pack (i.e. your husband) mark the territory first.
It sound like I'm joking but my grandfather swore by it. |
| We have chicken wire around our garden, not particularly sturdy but is enough of a deterrence to keep our dog out |
This. I found plastic chicken wire at home depot and metal steaks for the corners. It didn't look too bad once I planted some flowers around it. I remove everything when the garden is down. Our dogs have a designated pee area, so the only issue was keeping them from eating the plants. |
