Child readiness for pre-K applications

Anonymous
DD has been in preschool full-time for the past year and separates easily at school but not on other occasions (birthday parties, e.g.). Because she's in school so much, we don't do drop-off classes. She also has some articulation difficulties (blended consonants, e.g.), which can make it difficult for strangers to understand what she's saying. At school, she talks nonstop, and she's somewhere in the middle in the pack in terms of verbal ability. Under the circumstances, I'm wondering if we should just sit out the pre-K applications process and wait until next year. Has anyone been in a similar position?

Or maybe another option would be pre-K with speech therapy? We did that with my younger son. In MoCo, they send a school but to pick up the child and return the child to the pre-K program.

OP, apply to the school of your choice this year. My dd is in the same position and went through speech therapy (which made no difference). If the school can't deal with my less than perfect child, that makes decisions really easy...public school. Slurring does not require a year off.
