Why did he get fired? Surprised he even landed the job to begin with.

Agree it was a crazy hire but on paper he looks good, high level license and experience. But lives far from the area, zero communication, and took language to a whole new level. It’s all worked out for the best though

Anyone know what BSC is going to do on the Boys or Girls side for 2026-27 in terms of the age groups? Stick with 1/1 to 12/31 or switch to 8/1-7/31?

That's a league question and not a BSC question. Everyone except MLSN (yet) is 8/1.

If MLSN stays 1/1 but EDP, NCSL, NAL, etc. all switch to 8/1 that will be headache.

Yeah, what happens to a 2015 team in 26-27 that is U12, one year away from MLS Next? They probably stay 1/1 to 12/31 and play against older teams?

Is it 8/1 or 9/1?

All of the teams on the boys side are USYS based so 8/1/2014 and later will be school year as USYS has already accepted that change. I have no idea how they are handling MLS Next.

The girls should be school year up and down the club as US Club (ECNL) has adopted school year and if the girls are playing NAL or EDP like the boys before ECNL, that is USYS and they are moving to school year.

Boys born 7/31/2014 and older are the only ones in limbo right now. Everything else is set.

Incorrect. Those teams are going to be broken up.

1/1/2015-7/31/15 will be the most susceptible to players losing their 1st team spots in U12 as many 8/1/2014-12/31/2014 2014’s across the DMV will look to repeat a U12 season in 9v9 and most of them will easily take those kids spots and move them down to 2nd team or to another club if they desire first team. That is why Potomac is getting ahead of it with their supplemental tryouts.

Buckle up. This is going to be a fun spring πŸ˜€.

Wouldn't it depend on what MLS Next does? Why break up a 2015 team to 8/1/2014-7/31/2015 for U12, only to go back to 1/1/2015-12/31/2015 at U13 if MLS Next sticks to the calendar year?

Potomac is ECNL so the change you described makes more sense.

Two separate entities. 93% of US entities are SY in 26/27. All of the feeder leagues to MLS Next are SY. I would imagine, if you can play MLS Next, you will play. The top BSC 2014 last year was not allowed to play up with BSC in MLS Next and changed clubs. I am not sure what you are hypothetically expecting from BSC as their policies about playing up have been pretty strict. I imagine that if MLS Next stays birth year, whoever makes it will make it. 8/1/14+ kids who don't make it will have the option to try out for 1st team U12 if they don't already prefer staying in U12. Unless all of the U12 Pre-MLS clubs playing in the NAL agree to stay birth year, I don't see how any 2015 team would stay together regardless of what MLS Next decides. If they do that, those clubs may see their top 8/1/14+ move to on to other clubs.

I have no idea why MLS Next has not announced SY unless they are trying the ultimate trump card and forcing their clubs to play in their own leagues in the younger age groups. Otherwise, NCSL, EDP, etc. are all US Club and USYS which are all SY.

I hear what you're saying but it doesn't quite add up. If MLS Next is CY and a kid born on 10/15/2014 isn't good enough to make the 2014 MLS Next team, why would BSC put him on the "2015" team at U12? The following year he couldn't play MLS Next at U13 with the 2015 team and would have to try out again for the 2014 team that he already didn't make.

I don't know why MLS hasn't decided yet, or maybe they've decided and haven't made a public statement. In general, MLS Next doesn't allow kids to play for their HS teams so why would they care about SY teammates?

What does this have to do with Bethesda Soccer On Way Down? Disappointing.

BSC would put a Q4 2014 on their U12 team (8/1/14-7/31/15) if it helps them win. You should drop any thought of 2015 and U12. Plain and simple.

If that 2014 does not make the U14 MLS Next I or II teams the next year, they will be eligible to play for the U13 NAL 3rd team and that will be USYS and for ages 8/1/14-7/31/15 or play up with the U14 NAL 3rd team. Confusing, yes, which is why there are hundreds of pages dedicated to it and why the simplest solution is for MLS to go SY and deal with BY for national teams and international tournaments which is .01% of the soccer population.

This is an international area where a lot of top players come from countries who play 7v7 through U13. You will have 8/1/14+ good enough to play MLS Next who will choose to remain in 9v9 for additional development so it would be wise for 2015's, in particular, to adjust their expectations going into this spring. It is an American phenomenon to rush to 11v11 and MLS Next. Development is a long, slow process.
