My boss (male) just called me on the phone to get some information for a presentation he's doing this afternoon. We discussed the presentation and as he's getting ready to hang up - he says "great - thanks for everything, I love you"
I realize it was an auto I love you (like when you are getting ready to hang up on your wife) but I don't know how to react or what to do. I'm thinking of ignoring it. |
He's mortified. Ignore it and forget about it.
|
Ooh...how awkward! I vote for ignoring it. This is the first time something like this has happened, right? |
Of course you should ignore it. He's probably mortified and you said it was inadvertent. Anything other than ignoring it is going to make him feel like more of an ass. |
Yes. We have been working together for a long time - and are very close....professionally....we have a good working relationship. I'll completely pretend I didn't hear it. |
Ignore it - until performance review time - and if you don't get a good one...say "but...I thought you loved me!" |
Ditto. ![]() |
That's hilarious. You know he was on auto pilot so pretend you didn't hear it. |
hahaha...I've almost done that so many times.
Of course you should ignore it. It was an accident. If he noticed, he's mortified. I can't imagine what you would say? OP, I'm so curious...what other options do you think you have besides ignoring it? |
I don't know - I think it's the only one. I'm just worried that HE will bring it up. To "clear the air" or something like that. |
You should tell him that you love him, too. It's the polite thing to do. |
Ha ha
At least he didn't call you Mom .... |
Gah! So embarrasing. I got a "lv, name" at the end of a BB email. Whoops! |
I'd so play along and say ME TOO HONEY...
Come on folks, it happens... |
He most likely meant he loves the work you do and probably feels like a jerk for misspeaking. Ignore it. |
