GOOD for them. MD counties are all smaller. Plus they didn't get the same snow or as much?

Huh? Feb 17th isn't marked as a possible make-up day. It's March 20th and April 15th as possible make-up days.

Not should it be one.

MD sent out a notice that said districts could opt to use President's Day as a makeup day. It would make total sense for MCPS to pull back 2/16 and 2/17.

But 2/17 is not a makeup. So MD would allow 2/16 and then they would be off. Doesn’t make sense

Omg, no. MoCo is not unique in how much snow we got

MCPS could opt to make 2/17 a school day if they wanted to.

If MCPS is too big to open, how do you explain NYC which is 10x bigger and didn't close for a single day after the storm? They had 1 virtual day on Monday after the storm, and were in person every day after that. They didn't close because there was a stray sidewalk in the Bronx that hadn't been shoveled. They wanted schools to be open, and they opened them.

Other districts are opening because they know if looks absurd to close into a week. McPS will make a decision based on conditions out there and how it will impact getting to and from school. That's why it's "better" than other counties.

They don’t use busses for one. Schools are much closer.
