It matters because it shows the quality of the professors, cohort, and research being done. UVA was once a great school, now it is an average public school. |
Please just keep making my point for me. Nobody cares about that but the crazies on this board. |
I swear you must be a nut or still salty your kid was rejected or perhaps both. |
Wilson and Faulkner never graduated from UVA. Neither did Hench or Davidson. They weren’t “produced” by UVA. Rhodes scholars are graduates. Apples to apples. |
| With all the political stuff happening I’m not shocked. Everyone knows UVA is a good school. It doesn’t matter. |
| My kid is a Third Year at UVA and having the time of her life. She has a great social life, loves telling is about what she is learning, and is challenged academically. That is all that matters to us. Oh, and the in-state tuition is the cherry on the top! Also, cannot complain about the distance from NOVA. Up or down a few spots in the rankings? No biggie! |

UVA functions as designed a place where VA residents can send their kids to get a decent education at a reasonable price.
How/if it will continue to be able to perform that function depends on its ability to vastly overcharge non VA residents now making up about a third of the overall student population. Drastically lower that percentage and the value equation for VA residents will change. |
What an absurd statement. /\/\ |
You sound very normal. Haku for your daughter! Many DCUM posters are weirdly obsessed with college rankings and wealth. |
Happy for your daughter! |
+1 Crazy town posters! |
+1 seriously! |
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Our son is a first year at UVA and the adjustment has been beyond all of our greatest hopes. He is so happy! I credit that to the school, the culture, the place and the students there. There is an undeniable spirit - smart kids who want to have fun too - there that seems to captivate kids. The fact that he is having this experience at half the cost is a bonus. Home now yet eager to get back. |
Oh- so she’s a junior. |
