Companies employing H-1B foreign workers seeking a green card are required to advertise roles to American-born workers, but those job ads in local newspapers are allegedly targeting immigrants instead.

"Americans are not aware that major companies are routinely discriminating against them for the simple fact of being Americans in their own country," the team behind Jobs. Now, a website seeking out H-1B roles to share them with Americans, told Newsweek on condition their identities were kept anonymous.

A mysterious new job listings website recently went live, solely showing roles companies want to offer to their H-1B holders seeking Green Cards in an attempt to get Americans into the jobs instead.

It is not true that companies are discriminating against American workers in favor of H1Bs. Sure you can find cases of individual managers especially at smaller companies doing that but generally it is not the case. However, I don’t think companies are making real efforts to find a similarly qualified American worker when an H1B is available. It is an on/off switch, either they don’t do H1Bs at all or they treat them exactly same as Americans, and they shouldn’t. For that reason, I think $100k fee is actually a great idea for big banks and tech. If anything, I think it is too low. It is a different story for academics, doctors, etc and they shouldn’t have different rules

We had h1bs in architecture. They were “slave” labor in an industry that already has unhealthy working hours especially considering the low pay. There was never a shortage of American architecture grads. It was obvious they were there to work longer hours and not jump ship for higher pay or better benefits. At the same time they were also farming out some discrete tasks to Eastern Europe or South America. I’m not sure there’s any way to avoid the transition to a global economy but workers rights have to be fought for as always. I didn’t vote for trump but appreciate that he’s at least trying novel ways to avoid eroding worker benefits entirely.

My friend”s son got a degree from that school. Unemployed for 2 years.

My kids have graduated from State Universities without student debt, majored in in-demand STEM degrees, done prestigious internships and have made sure that they have the professional credentials and are gainfully employed. A 5% unemployment rate means that 95% of students will get jobs. So only losers will not get jobs here.

You sound like as As”””le. Our kids are doing equally well, if not much better than yours but we don’t judge others children. Calling any child a loser reflects poorly on our character as a parent. Sad

Whatever, loser parent of loser children!

Many of his college buddies did the same, but not all of them. Most all of the Indians who emigrated here prior to the 1980s were extremely talented and hard working. I recall most all being scientists, engineers or medical docs. It’s sad to see the Indian worker, and particularly h1b worker so vilified these days.

The vilification has happened due to racism and general inability of America and Americans to compete with the rest of the world, in hard STEM fields that requires intelligence and hard work.

The poor standard of K-12 education and general inability of parents to teach their kids at home means that many cannot compete in these subjects.

The vilification is due to resentment and jealously.

The vilification is because they are willing to pimp themselves out so cheaply and be manipulated for a visa. In the US the general term for that is a Scab (look it up- we may have a short history, but we have a long history of workers standing up against "the man"). The Indians undercut all of that. The Indian grandfather in this story, who came over in the 1950s for a lucrative deal, would be shamed by the system today.

I’m a second generation immigrant. I don’t hire h1b workers for many reasons. I have hired and mentored them in past but no more. They have poor work ethic and most are not as skilled as you might think. As soon as they hire on, they are looking for another job or trying to do two jobs. They are takers and carry zero loyalty. I now only hire US college educated (citizens preferred) and yes, they can be of Indian or any other descent. We are happy to pay more over hiring h1bs workers. You get what you pay for - as the saying goes.

+1. Same here. My company used to hire tons of H1Bs but the quality has really deteriorated. We now pay more $$ to hire US trained staff. Others not the same unfortunately, they are still hiring low cost bidders. Indeed, you do get what you pay for.

You are an idiot if you think TACO cares about "workers".

Brain-dead deplorables deserve whatever is happening to them.

What you are talking about is Socialism. But, that ship has sailed.

Agreed. As a South Asian, nothing annoys me more than hearing their voices. However, it seems they have found Americans to be gullible and they also run digital scams on them. Unless they drain all the money from MAGA old people and convert it into some Islamic Terror group sponsored crypto...they are not leaving.

Nope. America is for sale. Chinese, Billionaires, Saudis, Elon Musk, GOP leaders are already buying it. So, why not rich citizens like me? You go back to whichever poor European country you and your illiterate criminal ancestors came from.

America is for rich and college educated who can get jobs and generate wealth. Not for broke-ass deplorables, who cannot afford to live in America. Send your jobless kids to Somalia, Ukraine, Pakistan, Middle East to fight wars - because then they will be employed.

You are as confused as TACO. H1B hiring has made America rich and competitive. Getting cheap stuff manufactured in China made American companies rich and competitive.

Did American workers lose out? Sure. They were not trained and they are ill-educated. So they became obsolete. We don't need those poorly educated now except to win elections. Other than that...hopefully, no vaccine, no healthcare, no medicaid, no medicare, no social security, no reproductive rights for women, no tylenol, trade tarriffs, resurgent opioid crisis, rising cost of food, housing crisis, mental health issues - will see their numbers diminish.

Also, we are sitting on a powder keg of heavily armed country and every day we have a mass shooting. Give popcorn to everyone - because we have billions of dollars of corn left unsold.

The point you make so well - H1B workers are willing.

They are resilient enough to do well with lower wages, they are smart enough to earn new credentials and skills, they are capable enough to live in US, speak the language, and paying expenses and taxes in dollars, they are super intelligent enough to learn new technologies while American students are falling behind in Math every single year.

Also, with just 30% of white men going to college, where do you think your future scientists, engineers, doctors are going to come from? LOL. Only thing you can do well MAGA is get your people on OnlyFans.

As for your statement "...we have a long history of workers standing up against "the man"..." - Well, well, well - this seems to be a socialist, anti-fascist statement. Awww....do you want the federal govt back now? You want socialism? Govt subsidies? Medicare, medicaid, social security, food stamps, vaccines and Tylenol?

American workers are being gang-raped by GOP billionaires and CEOs. And MAGA is just their uneducated spot boy in the room where this porn is being made. Carry on.

You are responding to me but you think I'm MAGA? What's wrong with you? Can't you read the different nuances and tones from all the participants of the thread? It's not MAGA for this. Plenty of people are for this across the political spectrum.

PS- I love democratic socialism! Universal health care? UBI? Yes please! But the flip side is people will feel even more anti-immigration if we do all this because they don't want "them" to benefit from "handouts". I hope you can learn more about the spectrum of sentiment here in the US and on this very thread.

No, you don't love democratic socialism. There is no spectrum of political sentiment in the US. People voted one way because of hatred and entitlement - and since MAGA deplorable are ill-bred, ill-educated asswipes - they did not know that they themselves would be negatively impacted.

Now TACO policies have shoved a red hot poker up the MAGA butt...and everyone is backtracking.

Did you know that many fed employees are being rehired after they were DOGEd? What a cartoon show this country is. How much did it cost the tax payers?

So MAGA aspirations got bumfuxed again? DOGE-Y Style?
