Multiple reports have indicated it has steering capabilities. It isn't "just a balloon".

Specifics and citations needed. That substructure does not appear to have anything to propel it. The only thing it may have is ability to raise and lower itself into different wind currents.

There have been several reports that it is maneuverable..... starting with the pentagon spokesperson in a press conference yesterday.

IMO - this is even more reason to down the balloon. Find out what is there........ and, of course, send a message to China that we have, and will keep, their toy.

There are just as many nutjob liberal democrats as there are nutjob conservatives.

Something is always a fake news conspiracy.

BOTH sides of the table agree that it is a Chinese surveillance balloon that is maneuverable. Drones can be maneuvered, obviously the technology is there.

Yes I saw those reports. They say the “balloon” is being guided by people on the ground. Unfortunately those people are linked to the GOP and Fox News. So no way DOJ can touch them.

Oh, FFS. You sound uninformed.
Listen to the pentagon spokesperson, Brig Gen Pat Ryder......

Well if it's maneuverable it hasn't been terribly successful at maneuvering because it's missed most targets of any potential strategic interest along the way by hundreds of miles, and has pretty much just following prevailing winds

You are as bad as an election denier or vaccine conspiracist that thinks we are being inserted with microchips.

I would say somewhat maneuverable. Typically, all they can do is change altitude and hope the winds slightly differently. This technique has been around forever.

You are uninformed. That is a Trump MAGA general. Look it up. You can not believe a word he says. Might as well get your news from Fox.

Do you think the republicans are scared because it is science and they are unable to understand how a balloon got so high?

Exactly. And still at the mercy of the winds. Wild that there are unhinged people thinking there's someone driving this thing around with a joystick.

It's pretty much following the jet stream. There is no way to precisely maneuver it.

Ummm. Who cares? A communist country has a balloon larger than 3 Metro buses in our airspace ????

Some of you truly miss the forest for the trees.

Biden says they are going to “take care of it”.

I’m guessing shoot it down over the ocean.

There has been another Chinese balloon spotted over Latin America.

Wtf are they planning?

Some of you think you know more than generals, intelligence officers, and national security experts. It’s exhausting.

I think the exact opposite was said. The generals, IO and experts have all said it’s a Chinese surveillance balloon. They also have openly says they discussed options to take it down.

They won’t show their cards to the public or Chinese on the extent of what they know and their course of action, obviously.

Watching cnn- said there are limitless options to stick on that balloon, weapons platform, etc. immobilize troops, etc. This was all from our national security experts.
