| Where do I find "a plastic rest mat that may be folded"? |
| For the love of God, try thinking outside the box - buy a yoga mat! |
|
Dear OP,
If you go to Sullivan's Toy Store on Wisconsin (Wisconsin and Macomb) you will find the mat that most of the Pre-K'ers use for nap. It is not a yoga mat, by the way, which would not be cushiony enough. Just ask them for the nap mats for Beauvoir and they'll get one for you. |
| I found several web sites selling them - try googling "rest mat for preschool" - prices ranging from 13 to 50 dollars. |
| Thank you. I had been warned that a yoga mat is not adequate. |
Not a nice post
|
Why would a yoga do for the precious head of a Beauvoir pre-schooler? It's not like crib mattresses or pack n' play bottoms aren't hard as a rock. These kid need custom made nappy cushions. |
| It's nice that Beauvoir has rest periods. Some schools do not have any rest periods for young children. |
| Actually that is incorrect. In DC it is required by law up to a certain age (I believe 6). |
What is so horrible with your life that you are attacking a simple post asking what kind of mat to buy for nap at Beauvoir? Good god, get a grip. |

Do 4 and 5 year olds actually nap in a classroom, at Beauvoir, DCPS or anywhere else? I'm having a hard time imagining my 5 year old son falling asleep in a room of 20+ kids during the day.

| My child napped during the first part of Pre-K, just too tired from all day school. But most kids did not. They just had quiet rest period. We did not buy a mat. We just sent in one of our old camping sleeping pads and that worked well. Someone here probably would also sell you a used mat if you asked. |
| Most of the children in my daughter's pre-K class this year napped. A couple did not but still had to lie down quietly, sometimes with a book. At camp now, even some of the 5-year-olds sleep. |
