DCPS has done a good enough job of making its own case that anyone wealthy should go private. No one with resources is invested the system anymore. Good luck challenging Trump.

What are top 5 things the wealthy want? From my understanding, the wealthy always went to the legacy private schools in this area. What’s your advice for us going into this school year regarding Trump.

Private school tuition has gone nuts in the last decade, is the issue. Even someone in the top 5% in DC (425k) would balk at tuition at some of these places. Two kids absolutely not.

“Wealthy” is subjective, though, maybe that doesn’t count.

We're well off with an HHI around $500K. But we have 3 kids close together in age. We absolutely cannot afford private school for all 3.

Sounds like your kids will be going to school in VA or MD.

Happily enrolled at our non-NW IB DCPS and soon to be DCPSes at the moment.

Ah. Well you can be part of the shrinking minority who might be able to do something effective should Trump try to take over DCPS. Good luck with that.

You have no idea what working in a DCPS school can be like. It can be toxic and soul-crushing. More standardized testing is not helping any kids but especially low SES students or ones who are neurodivergent.

The teacher evaluation system here failed in several other states, the creator of it admitted it wasn’t for long term. There was a 3rd party evaluation of the eval system by American University that shows it is bias and racist.

The answer is not ‘resign then,’ ok anytime something gets bad you are the type to lay on your back, not all of us are.
The answer is not ‘well other districts are worse,’ ok when something inappropriate happens the school’s answer should be ‘well worse things have happened.’

And last shut all the way up with ‘can’t stand to see Black leadership’ I am Black and having Black leadership does not mean it will be perfect or immune to corruption.

It’s gross to hide behind fake moral outrage.

If you are a teacher at a non-title 1 school sit down. You do not experience the same things.

Central office overall is not helpful, they are slow to respond, give incorrect information or none at all.

Thank you. Well put. I teach at a non-title 1 high school in DCPS and everything this person says applies to my school as well.
