Beware: Dual Federal Insurance Coverage is not allowed.

I know that many of us that work for the federal government is waiting on open season to switch insurance plans for IVF coverage. Since my husband and I both work for the federal government I was going to go with Aetna (self) and he was going to go with MDIPA (family) for the dual coverage. We just founfd out by calling and checking the OPM Website that dual coverage under the FEHB plans are not allowed.

I wanted yo share so that others like me other can make alternate plans for 2012. Good Luck

maybe this is just the rule because you are both feds. My husband is fed aI am not and I am covered by his plan and through my office. There's been no problem.

dual plan is a recipe for annoyance, both sides will try to not pay

PP here...yes its because we are both feds. If one of us had private insurance it would still be a hassle to get the coverage coordinated but it could have been done.
