I am from Spain and I was really shocked to read about this on twitter today. When she speaks spanish she really sounds like a spaniard... how did she get to have such a good accent if she has never lived here?
Also, I am surprised you consider she's pretending to be latin by saying she's spanish. We're white in Spain. I've always been confused when asked about my ethnicity in the united states. |
My Spanish teacher growing up said that Latino designates Latin America, Hispanic designates Spanish language...so a Spaniard would be Hispanic but no Latino, a Brazilian would be Latino but not Hispanic, and a Mexican would be both. But no one else seems to use those definitions. |
This is just not...factual. |
DP. I was taught this as well. |
| Good luck commenting on her Instagram asking about this - they have an army of people who bully anyone who comments on her nationality. Any comments that mention that or aren’t flattering are deleted. What a phony! So much much for selling a book called Living Clearly. |
| Why does she do her podcast without the fake accent?? Gurl, you gotta be consistently fake. |
It actually comes and goes, depending on what she's talking about. Sometimes laid on heavy if talking about speaking Spanish to her kids or Alec and completely gone if she's talking about exercise or something else. |
| She's not from Spain, she may have a Spanish relative, it would have to be a distant one though that didn't appear until relatively recently. She went to grade school, high school, and college in the US and English is her native language. Why she would have an accent, even if she has a Spanish relative and spent time in Spain, makes zero sense. |

Guys Hilaria says right here she moved to the US at aged 19, to go to College. She clearly says her parents live in Spain, so she didn't actually know any pop culture and I assume that means she had no idea who Alec was. The people who say they went to grade school or college with her are probably just making it up.

Keep scrolling on that tweet and you’ll see Hilary’s tweet from 2012 where she says she was born in Boston. |
So how did she forget what the word for cucumber was? |
Oh gee, I don’t know...because she is faking it??? |
And lest we forget Alex proposed on Long Island because it was the closest he could get to Spain: https://youtu.be/ZPo0AOec2xA Her accent comes and goes big time: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nE0VbxYh7VY |
